DJ Brok3n Link is Jean Brazeau, when he isn’t playing alongside Vancouver’s favourite new rapper Young Braised he tears up the club with eclectic sets aimed to make your booty move! CONTEST: KASTLE & KAYTRANADA TICKETS
May Long Weekend is fast approaching us, and what better way to spend your guilt-free Sunday night than at Fortune Sound Club with two rising musical stars.
After a mesmerizing show at Fortune Sound Club last January, electronic-artist Kastle will be returning to Vancouver with Montreal-based sensation Kaytranada on May 19. Kastle’s forward-thinking music results from his long-time love of hip-hop and R&B, fused with the magnetizing effect that garage, house, dubstep and bass-heavy music has had on him. Kastle’s unique fusions will fit nicely with Kaytranada’s modern take on the luscious sounds of 90′s r/b.
This night will also feature performances by local acts 8PRN and Blue Version. While early bird tickets are sold-out, advanced tickets can still be purchased online or in-person at Zulu, Red Cat, Highlife, and Beatstreet recrods.

Outkast – Roses (8prn Remix)

#YVR – Kieran Fearing – Reprieve
Today is a good day; Vancouver’s own Kieran Fearing has released his debut full length, Reprieve. Inevitably, words fail to capture the essence of music, and they fall especially short in this case. Simply put, Reprieve is phenomenal.
It is beautifully haunted and inextricably tortured. It evokes a phantasm of visions from the dark depths of the mind. Comprised of vocals, piano, keyboards, and a healthy dose of electronics, the line between singer-songwriter and electronic music is walked ambiguously. Comparable to the likes of James Blake, Nicolas Jaar and Thom Yorke insofar as the adept attention to detail and sonic manipulation. A mature artist in his own right, Fearing paired up with Jonathan Scherk (of Plays:four and Flash Palace) to handle the recording and production processes. The strength and breadth of Fearing’s songwriting meets magically with Scherk’s electronic contributions to create a record that is greater than the sum of its parts.
