Keys N Krates formed in 2008 out of a desire to do something different. The Toronto-based trio wanted to take the remix/electronic sound out of the studio and onto the stage, creating a new live electronic experience. They blend together elements of rap, trap and electronic music to create a sonic experience through your headphones.And over the last year their unique sound has taken off, as they’ve toured with such artists as Major Lazer, Pretty Lights, Flying Lotus, Bassnectar and Skrillex to name a few, propelling them into one of Canada’s hottest urban acts.

Win Tickets to BLEACHED @ Fortune Sound Club
Jennifer and Jessie Clavin are two sisters from sunny Southern California who make melodic rock and roll and sing about things they actually care about. Formerly of Los Angeles band Mika Miko, Jennifer and Jessie started Bleached after moving back to their hometown deep in the San Fernando Valley. They’ve since taken on a 70′s punk esthetic that paints a picture of vintage surf culture and rebellious riot girls. After the success of their first three singles, the girls are set to release “Ride Your Heart” on April 2 via Dead Oceans.
In support of their debut, Bleached will embark on a spring tour that stops in Vancouver at Fortune Sound Club on May 2. $12 advanced tickets are now available online or at Zulu, Red Cat, and Beatstreet Records.

March 9 – OFFICIAL SXSW Showcase Fundraiser
For the second year in a row, Winnie Cooper is heading to SXSW to show Austin, Texas just how much talent Vancouver has to offer. We’re going even bigger in 2013 and teaming up with BeatRoute, Glory Days, and Light Organ Records to throw a showcase that includes music from Fine Times, Hey Ocean, the Boom Booms, Gold & Youth, Hannah Georges, and the Zolas.
If you wanna support our efforts, come by the Biltmore Cabaret on March 9 for our official SXSW Fundraiser. It’s a Saturday, so all the normal Glory Days shenanigans will be in full effect, including jams from M!G!H, Rico Uno, and Genie. Let’s all get Winnie wasted for a good cause! BREAKBOT @ Fortune Sound Club (Contest)
French electro producer Breakbot -real name Thibaut Berland- has a resume most artists can only dream of. Affiliated with Ed Banger Records, Breakbot first made a name for himself back in 2006, when he remixed Justice’s “Let There Be Light”. Six years laters, Breakbot has a debut album, 2012′s “By Your Side”, and a slew of celebrity fans -including Chromeo, Para One, and Matthew Dear.-
Next month, Breakbot will be hitting up Fortune Sound Club for his first Vancouver appearance since 2012. The night will also feature performances by Matty C, SAVEMEBOOTS, and Phil David. While early bird tickets have already sold-out, $20 advanced tickets can be purchased online or at Highlife, Zulu, Beatstreet, and Red Cat records.

Tonight – Rakim @ Fortune Sound Club
I read an article the other day that suggested there are two types of rappers, those who came before Rakim and those who came after. And while I’m no rap historian, I’m pretty sure this is true.
Rakim (real name William Michael Griffin Jr) was making music before I was even born. He first came onto the scene in 1986, when his formative rap duo, Eric B & Raki, released “Eric B. Is President” to mass hysteria.
In the years that followed, Rakim would release eight studio albums, including the infamous “Paid in Full”, as well as four solo efforts. His free-rhythm rhyming style and stoic delivery have cemeted Rakim into hip-hop history and he may just be getting started.
If you want to see the legend live in action, come by Vancouver’s Fortune Sound Club tonight, where he’ll be performing live with Jay Swing, J. Dennis, J.U.L.S., and Ill TONE. Florida-born bedroom rapper Kitty, formerly known as Kitty Pryde, is about to make 2013 her bitch. Hot off the heels of her second mixtape, “The Daisy Rage EP”, Kitty will embark on her first solo tour next month. She’s gunna make all the bb’s swoon with her candid lyrics about love, jealous haters, and that persistent bed wetting problem.
On March 23, she’ll be stopping by Vancouver’s Fortune Sound Club for an early show with music from local acts Young Braised, LADYFRND, and DJ Wobangs (TLC). Advanced tickets are $10.00 and you can purchase them online or at Highlife, Zulu, DIPT, Red Cat, and Beatstreet records.
