Tony X of Half Alive and Needles and Pins has a new photoblog. Just as the title suggests it is quite pleasant and makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

No More Strangers – Photos
The best No More Strangers yet. All our favorite people in one night. Video footage to follow. Big thank yous to Boogie Monster, Babe Rainbow (apparently Cam Reed’s first live show ever), Gang Violence and Basketball. If you haven’t seen Basketball yet, you have a couple more chances, Oct 27th and Dec 2nd with the Japandroids (bad ass) before they once again deprive us and head back to Europe / Barcelona. Next level Gypsy rave isht that will blow your mind. Seriously (no jokes)

Grizzly Bear – 5_26_09
So their album is really great and all that stuff, but both times I’ve seen Grizzly Bear’s live set I almost had a little nap between the other concertgoer’s feet.
Maybe it’s just too soothing, or maybe the Commodore’s velvet curtains reminds me of the womb or maybe it was because it was tuessday, but I found myself battling to focus my attention on the stage and not the neon-clad young woman behind me who was whining “I thought you said they were ELECTRO” to her sheepish boyfriend.
They are signed to electronic label “Warp Records,” which I guess could be confusing, if you were really dumb.
It definitely wasn’t a sold out show, but there were enough people there to result in the Commodores infamous “floor of broken glass” from people just dropping their empty cups when they were finished. Grizzly Bear’s Ed Droste seemed pleased with the crowd’s enthusiasm because he said he “couldn’t believe this was a Tuesday night crowd.” Their voices are super dreamy, and “Knife” got people really into the show for a bit, but I still prefer listening to them while eating toast at home.

Another thing that may have tainted my listening experience was the fact I got a nerd injury before the show (some sweet carpal tunnel in my right hand from using my keyboard too much), so at the show I couldn’t really take legible notes, and I couldn’t hold a beer. The only thing I could do was make some left handed stick drawings to give you a feel for the show.

Winnie’s Photos – Chromeo
Chromeo @ Fabric + Afterparty @ The Bourbon – 4/10/07
There are some new (old) photos up in Winnie’s Photo section from a Chromeo show and after-party in Vancouver from last October.
Also some W.C. “fan” video from the concert. I had forgotten how many girls were at this show, there was like 4 to 1 and the same thing again for their date here in April. It must be all that talk about romance or something?
New Winnie Pics
We have the photo section up and running now. New photos of the theatrical and overtly sexual, Chip Pop from The Media Club 4/13/08 are up.

One of the new features of our blog is going to be a photo section!
Its still under wraps now as we get everything html a-ok. To tie you all over, the first installment of it is up here. The pictures are from a Yo Majesty! & Does it Offend You, Yeah? show here in Vancouver this past Wednesday.
Shunda K of Yo Majesty! had to do the show solo after Jwl. B wasn’t allowed into the country. The concert was also competing with Buck 65 & Cadence Weapon show a few blocks away but Shunda still delivered to the delight of myself and the other fans there.
I managed to hear a lot of the groups new album after the show and what I heard blew me away. Stay tuned as i’m trying to get some snipets from some of the new material up on the site. It definately wasn’t what I had expected, there’s quite a diverse range of songs from party stompers to ballads and the production is tight. Watch out for the groups continued effort of saving hip hop with their new album set for an August release.
Look for a lot more photo updates with past events soon and a revamped photo section (the photo section link doesn’t do much now).
This track was up at our old site Versus but it still bangs yo.
