Merry Xmas from the XO – New Weeknd LP

Sometime during the night The Weeknd dropped Echoes of Silence.  I was immediately meet with shivers running down my spine hitting play on the first track D.D. learning it’s a cover of Michael Jackson’s Dirty Diana.  It’s a good Thursday.

the interview show: 90′s Doubleshot

They say the 90′s should be “coming back” any time now–if they ever went away.

Shane from The New Loud knows this. His band has a new single called “Wrapped In Plastic.” The track was inspired by the cult classic TV show Twin Peaks and the song was written from the point of view of the dead 90s icon Laura Palmer.

This week, we have not one but two acts with a special connection to that era.

Loreta also has a special soft spot for the 90′s. She has recently covered Michael Jackson‘s 90′s single “Stranger In Moscow” and she is giving it away for free on her Facebook page. So head over to her page and find out more about this incredibly talented lady! But first, listen to our chat and see how she reacts when an angry Mariah Carey invades her dressing room!

Drinkin’ Purp / Spitin’ Purp

Winnie is drinking purple to support gay suicides today and loves you the same no matter where you stick your peen / vg.

Today’s Gripe.  I was listening to the radio because the stupid cable for my ipod broke. Whaaat is this “G6″ shit Ke$ha is singing about?

Sometimes the stuff they play on the radio makes me feel so bad inside / suicidal.  Maybe Ke$ha is for gay suicides?

I goggled “G6″ and determined it’s a type of Pontiac which supports my theory that Ke$ha is a robot.

Have you seen those stickers with “that Calvin prankster” people put on their cars as a way of telling you they are a douchebag?? They should make one of Calvin peeing on Ke$ha.  It would probably implode.

Now is the time to buy btw!!! max your credit now!

the interview show: Justin BUA

Justin BUA is the #1 living selling artist amongst college students around the world. His art, like his most famous poster, “the DJ” (above), hangs in as many dorm rooms as that Audry Hepburn portrait or that Bob Marley photo.

Collector’s of his art also include Bill Clinton, Robert De Niro, Will Smith, Alicia Silverstone, Christina Ricci, Mark Wahlberg, Whoopi Goldberg, and many more in the music and movie communities.

He was in Toronto for his first Canadian exhibition at the LISS Gallery on Nov. 21st and we caught up with him for a chat. If you are in TO, head to the LISS, if you are everywhere else, check out his work here.

The Man in The Mirror

My landlord has this religious magazine that is sent to our house.  There was a “very informative” article on Goths and Emos and how they are the product of the devil etc.  I think they’re just a lil’ misunderstood and searching for meaning in this world.

If you see a goth or emo, I think you should give them a hug.  They are just a mirrored reflection of our society.

The 2004 Michael Jackson doc by that holier than thou Bashir dude was on the tellie last night.  It was so gosh darn sad.  I was really struck by a part in it where Michael talks about how messed up the world is now and how we all need more affection and love and how everything is out of wack with kids on their computers and parents at work all day.  I think he’s right.  If there’s one thing those Columbine kids needed it was love.

Pictureplane has a new album, Dark Rift coming out in a few weeks.  Very nice sampling of some Fletwood Mac on this lil’ ditty. I think Fleetwood Mac might actually be one of the seven wonders.

ok, im going to go shave my head right now.

Goodbye Michael

I haven’t got much work done with Michael’s memorial going on. What did you think?

This is a little twisted (like Michael’s life) but I was waiting for him to pop out of the coffin and yell, “Surprise bitches! It’s me I’m back! I knew y’all still loved me.” Talk about the best comeback ever…. And it would be perfect timing with his concerts set to start in a week.

I felt like it was all pretty somber, sad stuff. Couldn’t it have been held at an outdoor venue? I don’t know why Kobe Bryant had to be a part of it as well?

Personally, I find caskets to be really creepy and it reminded me how I want to be cremated.

And what was with the E! entertainment commentators speaking about it afterwards? I’m not sure what the other networks did but I found it a little weird hearing from the same dbags that took such pleasure in mocking him, and talk about whether it was right to have his daughter, Paris, speak or not. That’s where I turned that fucker off. Dude is dead, memorial is over. Now you flip to an episode of Cheers that is already underway.

But on a serious note, hearing his daughter speak and his family was some powerful stuff and definitely helped to humanize Michael in a way that Kobe Bryant and Queen Latifah didn’t (for me at least).

This song has come to me. I don’t know why, I’m notorious for misreading things and it probably is about doing too much blow and eating Mars bars, but it somehow spoke to me and my mixed up lil mind.
