Exclusive Purple
The indeed lovely Purple Crush came by Berlin the other week for a lil german tour.
We linked up for a couple of days and when the married couple left me, it was with a broked heart and a brand new crystal ball. Then some days later this landed in my inbox… an amazing little trance diamond.
It came with an e-mail that told me they had been inspired by their stay in Berlin and a chat we had bout maximal techno, trance and how to bring it back in style.
Im proud to pressent, the super exclusive, Winnie Cooper ONLY track:
You’re not Alone (Purple Crush Maximix) – ATB
ps, and if you dont know ATB you better bust your dictionary out.
ds, Thanks Jared!
New Wave Funk…

If you dig in to Princes ol’record crates im sure you will be able to find all of the tracks below, they all come from a time when dance music didn’t have to be 4/4 128bmp pumping neon monsters, they come from a time when party was a bout seeing new things and experimenting. For the last 6 months these three tracks have been in my playlists, whether i have gone traveling, done a mixtape or DJed. They are great, they bring together everything that dance music needs.
And im dying to go to the first New Wave Funk club of my life… so some one please hook us up here in Europe!
So, here you go, some classics! First out we have:
Zapp & Roger – Heartbreaker p I & II
The Westcoast hiphop and g-funk predecessors… Heartbreak is just a brilliant track that shows the band’s full potential, handclaps and talkbox, that whats up … Signed back in 1979 by our very favourite, George Clinton.
Put together by Prince himself, hailing out of Minneapolis and possibly the funkiest thing that ever came from Minneapolis, please prove me wrong tho… If you payed attention you would have heard it at this years Oscars. Just a classic
This is the newest track(86) out of all of them, but by the oldest band, formed back in 1976. Midas touch might be one of the reasons Americans in general seem to think that the Midas Touch is a good thing to possess. Think what you want about that, ill tell you one thing tho, this track is a good thing to posses.
Nightshifters?
Jason just hit me up with this amazing Back catalouge of fresh out the box lable Nightshifters. And sloppy as I am i slept on posting it for about a week… Well, here goes:
Berlins favourite Jason Forrest, and New Yorks favourite 4AM Jess knocked their heads and came up with this amazing lil lable… This is really the way of recordlabeling (is that even a verb?). With their massive geografical spann, US to Germany they are gonna be sure to pick up on the latest where ever the latest might be.
So, they also hit me up with this huge huge back catalouge, but im only alowed to post two tracks, its pure torture but here is my two favourite tracks, all in 320 kbps qualitish!
I cant wait to here a Bootybass or a Juke mix of this Hostage track, Jason hook us up!
And this one is just like the title implyes bad…
Far och Son
Swedish duo Frej Larsson and Simon Gärdenfors is Far och Son (Father and Son). The latest relese to come out of Hybris records. I need to hype this track, partly because its soo good to hear quality Swedish uhm… I guess Hipster Hop (even tho i hate the expression). Lets say Hip Hop to keep it simple. And partly because its simply a brilliant track that trancendes language borders. I also like that they choose to release it on the Piratebay, its a new era for recordlables indeed.
The scene has recently jump started with the likes of Mapei, Stuffa, Afasi & Filthy etc, if you not familiar with these names, get your google on son!
And now with out further adeu, the first single from Far och Son.
Enjoy.
Far och Son – Panik (Phatzoo Remix)
Far och Son – Panik (Tony Senghore Remix)
Ps, here’s the domino like video for the single.

UK Hardcore

The last couple of months, more and more rave sounds (not run through any FX or distortion of any sort) have started sneaking in to our every day club life. Remember those rave pianos? When did you hear them the last time? This weekend right? And the time before that? 1992, right?
In search of a more organic sound the club scene seems to glance backwards to a time when musicians tried to make music that sounded like the not so distant future aka didnt sound oraganic at all. Its quite ironic, that the people who tried to sound like the future now are used as the organic “real” input. And the UK Hardcore scene really did sound just like the music in the future (now) (im getting confused)…
So, I have lately started to sneak in a good ol UK Hardcore track or a rave track in to my DJ sets and I have noticed that no one seems to even notice, i wonder how it would have had gone down back in 2005? And to be frank, I sometimes have a really hard time telling the difference from the latest Boys Noize release from the obscure Rave 12″ from 1990.
Take this track from 1991as a brilliant example of that, personaly im kinda fond of the more “old school” sounds so im gonne treat you to a couple of my favourites right now (BTW its really hard to find any info about there artists).
DJ Kome & Mr Time – In to the Night
Take this amazing Rave track that blends perfect with almost every bootybass track I have. Its good to have this coming back, im normaly not a big retro buff but when its good its good and me personaly was in my young teens when this track from 1993 was released and cared way more about Hip hop then about rave and techo, so its amazing to be able to go out clubing to that music now finaly…
NMO – God of Abraham (remix 1992)
NMO have perhaps made one of the coolest intros ever.
Ok now you kids have fun with these track, but be responsible, you know you can have people danceing all night to this.
Ze!
Ze can be 2009s superstar. She is basicly pop. I cant help but loving it tho, there is something very attractive about it. Not that its never been done before, it just hasent been done this well. With this much joy and pleasure. And the fact that she is from KULALA LUMPUR doesnt hurt, its about time for us homogenic westeners to realize we are not alone on the playground.
Remember where you read it first!
Also, if you are in Berlin this weekend you can peep her show at the Villa as seen on the flyer above (jupp that her).
Markus Wormstorm

Together with front man and rapper Spoek, south african beat juggler, Markus Wormstom becomes the (now) household name Sweat X.
Now, I just got my hands on Markus solo project, and I noticed to my surprise that it has passed by relatively unnoticed, and that is a shame!
He handed it over to me this weekend and I instantly asked, -Is it share-able? (in the quest of the lost blog-post)
It was. Get Up! EP was released a couple of months ago, got some attention, but far from enough. On this track Markus features Spoek, so its pretty much all the ingredients you need to cook a Sweat soup, and offcourse it’s TASTY. Its a tad slower, and sounds as amazing to my ears as the presets of my first casio did back then (i belive it had a scratch pad too). Pure music joy.
Markus Wormstorm – JungleBoogaLooo (Featuring Spoek, Markus And Inge Beckmann As Wendy Haus)
Listen up for 15 year old Chi Chi who is featured on this track below. If she plays it right, that girl can go places.
And to be honest, I have no idea whats going on in this track. And i love it, backwards vioces, glich samples, bootybass, electro, rio funk I have no clue. He twist n turns the sound around n back again. There is a break in the middle and i think he might run the entire track backwards from there on, and he gets away with it! The only thing i know is that i wanna dance, read the t-shirt!
Markus Wormstorm – Get Up! (Featuring Chi Chi and Markus)
And while you are on the South African tripp, make sure to peep Playdoe also with Spoek from Sweat X. When I saw them live this summer Sick Sinus leaned over and whispered to me
- This is the future of hip-hop.
Niyi
(2).jpg)
I’d like to welcome the newest member to the Winnie Cooper family, Leo coming to us from Berlin via Sweden.
Let me introdcue Niyi, one of London’s finest. He is the kid who took the New Rave extravaganza to the clubs, yeah pretty much.
Besides writing for Super Super, running new clubs every week pretty much, doing something i still havent been able to figure out for Big Brother UK (it has to be an amazing show if he is a weekly feature, im gonna get on that torrent right now), he is also quite the rapper n producer.
Album is coming out soon and this is the sound that is up, I tried it out on the floor this weekend and the german ladies went insane, mix that up with Ben Mono’s new remix of Purple Crush n you have a safe “girl floor filler” situation.
This is a little older, his last single beofre this and most of you have surely already peeped this track, I still wanted to bring it along tho, amazing as it is.
Viel spass!
