20. Carly Rae Jepsen – Kiss
There are several reasons why former Mission, BC resident Carly Rae Jepsen made our list this year. Firstly, according to my iTunes library I’ve listened to “This Kiss” a total of 62 times, with “Wrong Feels So Right” coming in at a solid 42. Secondly, ya’ll know you listened to “Call Me Maybe” at least once this summer while simultaneously enjoying the fuck out of yourself. And lastly, my roommate went to high school with her and apparently she killed it as Dorothy in the “Wizard of Oz”.

On his sophomore effort, Twin Shadow uses an 80′s sensibility to document his life and relationships in the present tense. It’s an album filled with danceable beats and human emotion, or in other words, the perfect record for a suburban house party.

As his major label debut, ”GKMC” explores Lamar’s childhood through poetic rhyming, strategically placed skits, and collaborations with some of the industries biggest names, including Drake and Dr. Dre as executive producer. This is one of those albums that will only get better with time, kind of like “The Chronic”.
