Rakim is easily one of my fave MC’s ever.
For his return to hip hop in 1997, Rakim released The 18th Letter, his first solo album. It wasn’t groundbreaking, but it was good overall with some tightly produced tracks by some of the best (Clark Kent, Premier).
‘Guess Who’s Back’ is definitely one of the best tracks off the LP.
And check out the sample from Bob James:
Monday Drenched
It’s dreary and grey lately in Winnie’s part of the world. Combine that with Monday and… well… meh.
Best thing to do is grab a hot drink and hunker down with the right bunch of tunes.
Here’s a classic rainy Monday song:
Bob James – You’re As Right As Rain
It’s the perfect backdrop to get you through today. And if you listen carefully, you should be able to pick out that it was sampled for this:
How do you feel today?

Hangover music is like a whole genre in itself.
To get through days like today, I planned ahead and made a playlist of tunes to soothe the aching head. You’ll recognize the sample… this song here really hit the spot:
Bobby Caldwell – Open Your Eyes
Damn room. Stop spinning!
