New Albertans

On April 24 2012, The Albertans will release ‘The Hunter‘. A haunting, elegant seven inch vinyl EP recorded with Joshua Stevenson (Magnetic Rings). The title track is an epic journey that leads you into a sinister foray of organ sounds and frenzied guitar. ‘The Hunter‘ was formed in the damp coves of Bowen Island (BC) and offers a glimpse into things and sounds to come.
To celebrate, The Albertans are throwing a party at The Biltmore on Friday April 20th.

Kithkin

These guys sound like a bunch of doods who played in a bunch of super successful rock bands and then decided to get together and have a bunch of fun. Hailing from Seattle Washington, Kithkin is comprised of Kelton Sears (Bass, Vocals, Drums), Ian McCutcheon (Vocals, Drums), Bob Martin (Keys, Vocals, Drums) and Alexander Barr (Guitar, Vocals, Drums). Growing up in the darkest regions of the Cascadian Empire, the boys grew up on a strict diet of percussion and rhythm, forced to eat nothing but spiders and leaves in between twice-daily 10 hour long drum circle sessions. Check out their track “Ampersand” from their debut album Takers and Leavers.

Eidolons – Wolf Den

Yes, these guys ARE from Portland and we like it. Eidolons are a band that will remind you of a jubilee of unique chill-rock groups (Young Buffalo, older My Morning Jacket, Wilco) while embodying the sex in all of them. Enjoy their track “Hopeful Antiquarian” from their recent EP Wolf Den.

Dreaming of Summer
CAPYBARA / Neighbor Crimes / CMJ 2011 (Brooklyn, NY) from mark harrison on Vimeo.
We’re in the deadheat of Winter here in Raincouver, clinging to the last chunk of the frozen season for what seems like forever. Luckily, all it takes is a song to take you to a better place. Perhaps somewhere tropical?
Capybara to the rescue! Kansas City’s 5-piece wonder boys have dropped “Neighbor Crimes”, a single off their new album “Dave Drusky,” which is a sparkling, and almost humid feeling pop tune that may just make you feel like you’re shambling through a rain forest instead of drenched waiting for the 99.

New Apollo Ghosts Video – YVR
I think it was Alex Hudson from one of my fave Vancouver blogs, Chipped Hip that said “Apollo Ghosts are one of Vancouver’s most under hyped bands”. I agree.
