Have you heard? Norwegian rockers Supermale have been recording in Vancouver for the past several weeks with local Vancouver producer Tyler Johnson AKA Digg. Winnie got a chance to sit down with them and she thinks they’re pretty great… and their music? Even greater.

A new project emerging from the eight-person Norwegian band “Pony The Pirate“, Supermale boasts a indie rock look with an electro pop feel. Influenced by the likes of Arcade Fire and Röyksopp, their new material goes from analog to fiddles and cellos; to say the least.

So there’s this kid named Max Greenhalgh (AKA Inspired & The Sleep) from San Diego. he basically takes the excitement from Vampire Weekend, the experimentalism of Yellow Ostrich, and the mystique of Grizzly Bear and then outperforms all of them. Winnie thinks he should move to Vancouver… or at least play a show here. Check out his video for “While We’re Young” and download the track for free from his BandCamp here. Cleveland Ohio is the 33rd largest city in the United States; whatever. You’ll find The Playhouse Square Centre, corned beef, and (among many other wicked groups) the Cloud Nothings. Played by by 19-year-old Dylan Baldi, the group portrays an adolescent sound with addictive harmonies, and a comfortable feel. This is high quality indie pop (with a splash of surf punk) to say the least. Enjoy their free track, Understand At All, released on Carparck Records.

♥ how this track comes in on a 60′s note with subtle brush taps on the percussion… then kicks it up with deep bass eight seconds in; baby you were there. TV Girl is two guys named Trung and Brad who decided to record some stuff one day and this is what came out. They would be from San Diego and yes, they would classify themselves as Indie Pop. For some reason I feel like it’s a little more than just that… let’s let the readers decide.

If Grizzly Bear had a baby with Radiohead and was then baptized by Sufjan Stevans, you’d probably get something close to “Here We Go Magic“. The name rocks, I have to say that right now… Oh, and so does the music. This interesting 5-piece from Brooklyn NY have been around since 2009, first singed to Secretly Canadian.
