Humans @ The Biltmore

Opening the show was Blood Diamonds and his reputation, as usual, preceded him. With the kids from Oh No! Yoko backing him up it was a perfect tease for our boys Peter and Robbie.
HUMANS have always been a Winnie favorite and all I can say about their live show is money well spent. Peter and Robbie have an infectious chemistry on stage that gets the audience frantically involved. Although I was excited to hear some of the new material for their next record, I can’t seem to stop enjoying Avec Mes Mecs; still.
Make sure you drop a line with the boys next time you’re out, they’re total sweethearts. Enjoy the single from their last record, “Avec Mes Mecs“, and “Dreams” from our Blood Diamonds.

the interview show at the movies

This month, the interview show attended the Vancouver International Film Festival and chatted with some of the brilliant minds behind some of the best shows on TV: Alexandra Cunningham started on HBO’s Rome and spent some time on ABC’s Desperate Housewives and now is the head writer on NBC’s Prime Suspect; Aaron Zelman started on Law & Order then moved to Damages and now heads up AMC’s The Killing.
We also chat with 3 of our favorite local bands about how film has influenced what they do: Peter & Robbie from Humans, Parker from Gay 90s and Steve from Philoceraptor.

First up this Saturday is HUMANS w/h YOUNG LIARS + WC djs at The Astoria! Unfortunately PEELIES had to cancel :( but we will party hard in their honor. If you haven’t been to a HUMANS show yet than I suggest you get your butt out. You’ll be talking about it for days after.
Humans – Montonton 2
Check out their brand new video for Avec Mes Mecs!!
Young Liars are not just another Vancouver band but something very special. The perfect mix of electro, dance & indie. Their newly released album “Homesick Future” reached #3 on the itunes Canadian electronic charts! Oh and did I mention they’re total babes? My favorite song is “Echoists”.
Young Liars – Marathon
Advance tickets only 10$ here!

The second event were offering guest list for is Painted Palms with Vincent Parker & Sleep Letters this Monday at The Media Club!
Painted Palms is duo Reese Donohue & Christopher Prudhomme who are actually cousins. Their latest EP “Canopy” was created mostly with the duo exchanging tracks online. Due to the fact that one lives in Louisiana & the other in California. The only track they actually made in the same room is “Falling Asleep”.
“Destroying the contrived and constructed elements of my personality and thought processes–that’s what Painted Palms is to me.” – Donohue
Painted Palms – All Of Us
Vincent Parker is a dance electronic act from Vancouver, known for his live shows and amazing posters. Every performance is unique & personal. He likes to mix soft and hard sounds. He is currently recording a new album. #bassface
Sleep Letters are a relatively new Vancouver band but make good trippy music. All this for only 8$? Buy advance tickets here! Remember leave a comment about which show you want to go to because were giving away some glist spots!! xxo
