I met Hot Panda on a typical Vancouver rainy night behind the Cobalt. We all crowded into the Prius belonging to HP lead singer Chris Connelly. I got the band to talk about public nudity, destroying tour vans and other secret band gossip.
This particular chat was an interview show first. Half the band walked out in the middle of the interview! Don’t worry! It’s a funny story. You’ll have to listen to hear how it all goes down!
Hot Panda “Future Markets” Hot Panda’s 3rd record Go Outside marks the band’s first record as a Vancouver band. This is the best track on the band’s new record. I hope the band continues making more tracks like this one.
Hot Panda “Language” This song celebrates monogamous relationships. It’s about a couple who develop their own language to communicate with each other!

Back in Vancouver for a few days now. I have almost recovered. Slept for 12hours last night. Think i’m getting sick. I miss Austin, drinking all day, sleeping little and most of all “being shitty” which we decided the upside down peace sign is the international symbol for. Spread the good word.
Apologies to anyone who wasn’t at SXSW that I pissed off with my drunk tweets. Thank god, I had my camera and my twitter account or I would have no idea what happened.
Without further adoo-doo.
Day 1. PS I Love You (Kingston, ON) at Canada House.
Our cab driver didn’t know where to get any green but he did have MCat. That was a highlight of our trip. It was particularly nice for James Blake (UK).

Cecil of Gobble Gobble (san fran / Edmonton).
Wolf Gang (far left and middle)(No relation to Odd Future). They are from England and are pretty chill bros.

@tristanorchard “Dude. These kids are killing in the back yard. ? R tehy? http://t.co/Nmwrl1u” OMG they were tight and I don’t mean their buttholes. From NY via Arizona.
I blogged about these guys a while back. It was pretty cool to watch them and find out who they were. Dead Gaze (Mississippi)
Eric our new friend from San Fran who works for Intel.
DAY 4. Big Freedia (New Orleans) at the Mess With Texas tent. Right before everyone jumped on stage and some drunk guy pulled down his pants and showed his peen for a long ass time.
Had to jump the fence to get backstage and then sneak past security to hang off the scaffolding backstage for Odd Future (L.A.). Some girls started fighting next to me for position and were pulling each others hair. Diddy showed up and was hanging out backstage. I swear he looked at me hanging of the scaffolding like a douche with my camera and gave me a lil wink, like, “Never give up kid”. Awesome. Tried to follow him to find the Kanye West penthouse party but I swear he disappeared into thin air. Might of been a hologram.
Fave chill bro, Teen Daze (Vancouver) at Soho.
Basketball (Vancouver) at Soho.
Jamie XX (London) at Barcelona. I told my friend Becky to go ask a guy standing next to the bassbin if he was Jamie XX. Totally was! NBD right. Swoon. Too bad she lost her voice.
Vancouver peeps at an after party on the last night.
DAY 5. Last day. Hanging out in a field at a school killing time before flights home with the roommates. Party pain. Can you tell who went to bed the earliest / is the most responsible?
Stay tuned for the video footage. Just say no kids.
When Chris Connelly from Edmonton’s Hot Panda answered my call, he had no idea he was supposed to be doing an interview. Hot Panda‘s tour van had just just died and he was putting the license plate on their new van.
Chris didn’t even flinch when I suggested we play a little game of kill, fuck or marry with his fellow Mint Records stars Shane (from The Awkward Stage), Paul from (Young & Sexy) and Becky from (The Pack A.D.)
Definitely one of my most fun interviews of this year!!! Come see Hot Panda at the Biltmore this Thursday (Feb 24th) while they are on tour winding their way down to SXSW.
Hot Panda “Mindlessnesslessness” My fav track on their latest record How Come I’m Dead?
Hot Panda “Masculinity” When you see this track played live, Catherine the new bassist plays both trumpet and bass.
