Emay – Adam

Emay (pronounced M-A) hails from Hamilton, Ontario and he’s something like a phenomenon. His lyrics are just deep enough to get stuck in your head for days while his dreamy production combines elements from numerous genres. It’s like musical Star Trek, as this dude will transport you to unforeseen places track after track.
His full length debut entitled “Adam” is one of the best mixtapes I’ve heard so far this year. Its rich with sound experimentation and has an emotional complexity that blurs the line between poetry and music. You’ll hear everything from hockey references to internal reflections about raw flesh peeling off the skin slow. Yeah, I told you he was deep.
“Adam” is avaliable for a free download here or you can stream it below.

Mac Miller – Macadelic (Mixtape)

At 20 years of age Mac Miller has accomplished more than most homies twice his age and he’s not stopping yet. His latest mixtape “Macadelic” not only showcases his lyrical maturity but also his ability to experiment with cultural references and his own emotions.
If you’ve followed Miller’s career from the beginning, when K.I.D.S. revolutionized the genre of frat rap, you know that he’s quite vocal on staying humble through the fame. The dude still has the same girl and rolls with the same crew, creating a rapper with a low level of overall douchiness and music that is highly relatable.

In fact, it’s his relatibility that makes Macadellic one of Miller’s finest works yet. On it he tackles everything from internal confusion to long distance love but with a subtle youthfulness that keeps everything honest. Add to this a stellar production value and a list of features that includes some of the games hottest MC’s (Weezy, Cam’ron, Casey Veggies) and you have yourself a grade A mixtape.
If Miller’s talent continues to grow over the next three years, he could be selling out stadiums by the time he’s 23. You can download Macadelic here.

Cadence Weapon – Hope In Dirt City

Ya’ll already know about my undying love for Cadence Weapon aka Rollie so I’ll keep my swooning to a minimum and focus on his music instead.
For the past couple of months Rollie has been teasing us with tweets about new music, even dropping a Grimes collaboration that blew my musical mind. It’s now been confirmed that he will drop ‘Hope in Dirt City’, the follow up to 2008’s critically acclaimed ‘Afterparty Babies’, on May 29.
Look out for collaborations with Doldrums and Buck 65, as well as a sound that departs from his latest mixtape ‘Tron Legacy’. According to a recent press release, ‘Hope in Dirt City’ is a “clearly defined and emotionally mature statement of intent” which will see Rollie bring hip-hop back to its roots. Well, I guess if anyone can do its him.
In support of the album, Cadence will be hitting up the Electric Owl on June 22. In the mean time check out two of his latest tracks “Loft Party” and “Crew Up”.

Rocky Rivera feat. Irie Eyez – GRLZ (Video)
Rocky Rivera garnered some serious press at SXSW this year and she’s gunna get a little more with her most recent video for “GRLZ”. This chick rocks a modern day varsity jacket like none other. Swoon.
The track is off “POPKILLER MXTP” and its a quirky take on the Beastie Boys that is sure to have all the ladies singing. You can download the mixtape here.
Oh, and one more thing. Irie Eyez fucking kills it. Just saying.
