“Rain Dancing” is the debut single from the multifaceted Liberian-born and LA-based DJ/producer, Val Fleury. The dance floor provocateur delivers with a top tune fueled by eclectic beats, a hypnotizing bass line and introspective lyrics that radiate. Known for her signature multi-dimensional and genre-bending style, “Rain Dancing” intertwines inspiration from favorites likes Robyn, Disclosure, and Anna Lunoe. Transcending typical dance music and modern day hype, Val has concocted a solid sound that connects Indie-pop, Soul and Dance music through this single. The track and its video are incredibly infectious and will keep you grooving under the clouds all night long. “Rain Dancing” makes a full debut today, Friday November 18th, 2016, premiering via Atwood Magazine, stream or purchase below.
When I hung out with Ketil Jansen and Ulrik Denizou, the two fellows behind the Norwegian indie electronic band called Lemaitre, they were a bit stressed out. That night, they were the opening act on a big tour and headliner Porter Robinson‘s soundcheck went overtime. (Nothing against Porter. He put on an amazing show that night.) After a rushed soundcheck, Lemaitre and I only had 20 minutes to find a quiet place and chat. Don’t worry, we still managed to get everything done.
Why does a band from Norway have a French name? Which Lemaitre song started with a Jimi Hendrix sample? How do fights between Ketil and Ulrik result in better music? Why do love songs usually suck? What role does German digestif bitter Underberg play during our hang session? Listen to find out all the answers.

I woke up Autograf‘s Mikul and Louis from a nap when I met then at the hotel. In fact they asked for another quick 15 minutes of sleep before we chatted.
Chicago indie dance band Autograf is three guys: Mikul Wing, Louis Kha and Jake Carpenter. Autograf started as an art collective modeled after Andy Warhol‘s legendary New York Factory scene. While working on art installations, Autograf made a few bootleg remixes (including 50 Cent, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and the Temptations) to fuel parties at their Future Factory space. These remixes became incredibly popular and soon offical remixes followed which eventually led to Autograf releasing original material.
Louis and Mikul were still groggy and disoriented when I woke them up the second time, but we had a great chat. How did an art collective become a dance act? What does the band mean when they tell each other to “bask like a lizard?” We start with the most important question: If Autograf is three guys, and Louis and Mikul get the two beds in the Autograf hotel room, where does the third man sleep? Listen to our chat.
