Ghibli

Ghibli

Anytime I can hype a fellow Albertan who makes good fucking music I jump on board.  That’s why I was more than pleased when @tristanorchard introduced me to Ghibli a few months back.

Ghibli, real name Thomas Michael, is a young Edmontonian who produces music to curb his creative ADHD.  And while I sympathize with his inability to sit still for prolonged periods of time, I’m thankful that he’s turned his overactive personality into something I can dance to

I liken Ghibli to a master puzzle maker, as he takes samples from various youtube clips to create one cohesive unit.  His new EP “Rare Pleasures” is composed of ten musical gems that will either reinforce your love for electronic-dance music or make you reconsider the genre altogether.  This bb is going places, for reals.

Ghibli – Sixteen Moons

Ghibli – Flossy

Ghibli – Winflowers

Ghibli – Babyface

Ghibli – Ross

You can download “Rare Pleasures” here.

French House? Ghibli

Ghibli aka Thomas Michael is an emerging artist from Edmonton.

I first heard about him through the Oh No! Yoko guys (He remixed their track, Go Alien) and have since been very impressed by his music.

Being someone born in the 80′s that grew up on French House / The French Touch it’s always amazing to see younger artist make something fresh and new that was clearly influenced by music that may of come out when they were 8 years old.

Expect big things from this guy.  He was also recently featured on Teen Daze’s latest Cultus Vibes: Together compilation with some other great artists / Teen Daze pals.

This track is a Winnie exclusive and is just in time for champagne popping New Years celebrations.

Ghibli – A Slow Walk In The Snow

From the highly rec’d free Cultus Vibes: Together compilation

Ghibli – Breanne

Ghibli – Aubrey de Grey (Jessica Jalbert remixed)
