the interview show: Dragonette
It seems like Dragonette can’t escape their sex-drenched image. Songs like “I Get Around” and “Take It Like A Man” have solidified their reputation as a racy dance-pop band.
Strangely enough, Martina Sorbara, the female lead of Dragonette, used to be a fairly successful solo singer songwriter in the vein of Lilith Fair acts. She gave up the “tampon music” (as she calls it) when she met up with David Kurtz, who she then stole from his girlfriend at the time.
Seems like the vixen image is a little justified, but Sorbara maintains that her and Kurtz are on good terms with the ex. They even made a song about it “Competition,” which is either a compliment or a nice “fuck you.”
