the interview show: Doomtree

I will call this one the sniffles interview. When I stumbled into the Biltmore, I was no where near 100%, and I was worried about not having a Kleenex to contain my snot drip, but this was the first time the entire 7 member Doomtree crew was touring together. It was my chance to get more than one member together, talking about what they do. I found Dessa asleep in a booth in the club, sick herself. After I woke her up, she found Lazerbeak and we sniffled and snorted through this interview.
For those who don’t know, Doomtree are a unique entity in hip hop, a collective of memebers who collaboruate and support each other thru their artistic endevours.
Even though everyone is sick, Dessa and Lazerbeak do not disappoint. Dessa talks about getting asked to join Doomtree and Lazerbeak reveals his dreams about meeting Jay-Z.

the interview show: P.O.S.

The mighty P.O.S. is an indie hip hop legend, mostly for pioneering a caustic sound which incorporates punk and hard rock influences in his beats. He is also the kingpin of the Minneapolis Doomtree Collective. Suffice it to say, I was psyched to meet the guy.
This interview was a real pressure cooker. We did the interview minutes before P.O.S. went on stage in his tour van while the line-up of people who couldn’t get into the show watched. Also, this interview was shot for a documentary that Doomtree were filming. And P.O.S. started the interview by telling me that this was his last record!
P.O.S. “Drumroll (We’re All Thirsty)” What he does best.
P.O.S. “Bleeding Hearts Club (MPLS Chapter)” P.O.S. with guest Slug (aka Atmosphere). P.O.S. is also considered part of Slug‘s Rhymesayers crew.

the interview show: Dessa

Dessa is one of the emcees from the legendary Doomtree Collective. For those of you who don’t know, Doomtree are a Minneapolis crew of emcees and producers, headed by alternative hip hop powerhouse P.O.S.
Dessa admits she has never seen a group of guys who support each other as artists–and as people–as much as her guys.
And the whole crew turn out consistently excellent work. Dessa‘s latest record, A Badly Broken Code is no exception.
Dessa “Dixon’s Girl” This song is about Dessa‘s chance encounter with another strong female in hip hop… Can you guess who?
Doomtree (ft P.O.S. & Dessa) “Dots & Dashes” Here is what they do best: Dessa and P.O.S. collaborating on a track.
