the interview show: Digitalism

Digitalism is Jens (the ginger) and Isi (the big guy). The guys met at a record store in Hamburg and became fast friends. Later, the store’s owner asked them to DJ a party, and they then began mixing and recording. According to legend, they record their music in a World War II bunker they own in Hamburg.

I have been a fan since “Pogo” and wasn’t afraid to interrupt a dinner in between Digitalism and Classixx, so we could do this interview. The guys were nice to answer some questions before their DJ set and our talk is a nice post-bottle-of-wine mix of broken English and laughter.

the interview show with Digitalism

Digitalism “Circles” The band’s fav track from their second record I Love You, Man.

Digitalism “A New Drug” A new track fro the their DJ Kicks mix album. (The DJ Kicks series has been called “the most important DJ-mix series ever” by Mixmag.)

Digitalism “Silenz” Another new track fro the their DJ Kicks mix album.

Oh hey. hello there.

cat notes

This cat likes music (see picture).

Mr Shimmer (see picture) and I were having tea and a chicken sandwich talking about jazz shoes and he reminded me of this Digitalism remix.

Play this when you’re getting ready to go out tonight:

Winnie’s Bag

Mailbag time bitches.  Its been a while since our last “bag’ post so the tracks have PILED up.

IMHO, the best Crimewave remix so far from New York’s Killowatt.

Crystal Castles - Crimewave (Kilowatt Remix)

Solly strikes again!

Rod Stewart - Do Ya Think Im Sexy (Solly Volume Remix)

Anita Ward - Ring My Bell (Solly Bmore Bell Remix)

A sweet Ting Tings remix of “Shut Up and Let Me Go” from Left Right which is all over the net now because we slept on it. Here at Winnie C.  we love eating samiches more than we love blogging.  We may not be the first but we are the best.

The Ting Tings - Shut Up And Let Me Go (Left_Right Remix)

And a bad ass retake on “That’s Not My Name” from LA Riots for the floor.

The Ting Tings – That’s Not My Name (LA Riots Remix)

Our friends at Fabric London sent us this mix by Stopmakinme who are playing the venue Sept 19th

Stopmakingme – Live Mix September 2008

Okay, this is dope, a Johnny Cash rock-a-billy meets glitch remix from Dj Troublemaker.  More like this please.  From the much anticipated Johnny Cash Remixed due out October 14th on Compadre Records.

Johnny Cash - Straight A’s in Love (Troublemaker Remix)

Hollywood Holt was boozing it up and fell out a window last time he was in Vancouver. They held a benefit to try to help with his medical bills.  I think that’s way cooler then going to jail or getting shot.

Hollywood Holt - Caked Up

Mmmatthias‘ take on the new Digitalism track

Digitalism - Taken Away (Mmmatthias Remix)

I love Hercules and Love Affair.  If my genies (no, i’m not explaining what this is) could sing, this is what they would sound like. Immuzikation on the remix.

Hercules and Love Affair - Blind Death (Immuzikation Blend)

MSTRKRFT are coming to Vancouver Oct 3rd.  Check Mansion’s take on their new track, “Bounce”.

MSTRKRFT - Bounce (Mansion Remix)

A remix of the classic Sabrina Salerno track, Boys Boys Boys from Biancardi.

Sabrina Salerno - Boys Boys Boys (Biancardi mix)

I don’t know much about this other than they have done a electro rock cover of 2 Unlimited’s “No Limit” and from the sounds of the snipet on the trailer they should send us the full version when it drops Sept 26th, 2008

I could go on but I won’t. More next week, or the week after or whenever I finish eating all these samiches.
