Los Angeles based duo Poolside have been producing the “Daytime Disco” vibes since early 2010. Consisting of Filip Nikolic and Jeffrey Paradis, Poolside take their name seriously, with Pitchfork describing their first album, “Pacific Standard Time”, as having a “tempo and temperament that call to mind images of a palatial California, where the water is as clear as the sun is bright and the slow drip of time is inconsequential.”
Following the release of “Pacific Standard Time” last year, Poolside have found fans in LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, (who continues to make their cover of Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon” a staple of his DJ sets), and are now the golden boys of California disco.
Next month, the boys of Poolside will be stopping by the Electric Owl in Vancouver with Jay Arner and it’s sure to make you forget that summer is officially over. It all goes down on Friday, September 6th and tickets are now available via Ticketweb, and in person at Red Cat and Zulu Records. For more information visit the Facebook event page.
I’m pretty sure tons of baby making will be occurring tomorrow night at Venue, as two of music’s freshest acts will be stopping by to provide your ladies with adequate foreplay.
George Lewis Jr., the mastermind behind Twin Shadow, will be accompanied by daytime-disco act Poolside and they’re both expected to play before a sold-out crowd. So it’s purdy special that we’ve still got two tickets to giveaway. In order to be entered to win, post your favourite Poolside song on Winnie’s Facebook Fanpage. You have till tomorrow (August 11) at noon. Ps- it’s an early show and you can find out more information here.
