Throw Up

(image via risingtensions)

I’m pretty sure Merriweather Post Pavilion will be in a lot of peoples top albums for 09′.  Continuing the trend of rapping over samples from the latest hip(ster) band for internet fame we have 607‘s take on Taste.

Animal Collective ft. 607 – Taste (Remix)

Phoenix‘s latest, “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix”, is a pretty damn stellar pop album.  It’s set for release, May 25th.  This is a tight new wave/disco/pet shop boys-ish reworking of 1901 from Mother Father.  You can download the original for free from Phoenix’s website!

Phoenix – 1901 (M_F Nu Wave rmx)

Fan Death has also done a great remix of this Datarock track.

Datarock – Give It Up (Kissy Sell Remix)

Anorak of the french house posse, Valerie is a WC fave.  French house / disco pop.  Did you know, in British slang an anorak is a person, typically a man, who is an enthusiast interested in information regarded as boring or unfathomable by the rest of the population.

Anorak – Nightdrive With You (Pomomofo Remix)

Pegase is the newest and youngest member of Valerie.  If this is the demo version, imagine how good the final version will sound.  Very excited to hear more from Pegase!

the interview show: datarock

As Rocksteady Freddie (left) and I sat on the back steps leading up to the Commodore, hundreds of high school graduates and their parents milled about in a skuzzy alley usually populated by rats and dumpster divers. The high schoolers were all in their cap and gowns, there for their graduation ceremonies at the Orpheum.

We chatted as girls fretted about their hair and makeup and boys cringed awkwardly as wiry Grandmas grabbed them for long hugs.

Rocksteady Freddie wasn’t wearing his trademark sweatsuit and dark glasses and the kids were all oblivious to the soundcheck for the Datarock show right nextdoor. When the interview ended, I tried to convince Freddie to do an impromptu performance for all these potential new fans. Freddie was tempted, but he had a Skype appointment with his wife and new daughter.
