Artist collective HICU return with their second edition to their Sound Tape consisting of 7 tracks from several up and coming Canadian rappers. The project features locals Teshalé, Seth Kay, Dave Fields, Spotty Josif & Sharuk plus Toronto’s GRNDBLVD, MEZ MARIYÉ and Alberta’s Ayoo Angie. We’ve been quite excited for Ottawa based rapper Night Lovell‘s Red Teenage Melody project and it’s finally out in all it’s glory. The 14-track album includes production from Blvc Svnd, Blank Body & Glocque plus features from Nessly, Dylan Brady & Wavy Drexler. This is by far one of the most impressive Canadian bodies of work that has come out this year in the “underground” scene but we highly believe he’ll grow past that label with this release. Ottawa based duo Velli Ventura (Romeo Del North & Yashavelli) have released their debut 4-track EP Legend Has It and it delivers a promising sound. Check out the music video for “Hold Up” below plus the rest of the EP.
Following their 2014 release Forcefield, Tokyo Police Club have just released the single “Not My Girl” off of an upcoming EP titled “Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness (Part 1)”. I wasn’t completely sold on first listen but by my 2nd and 3rd listen I was hooked.
