Winnie Mixtapes

I caught you a delicious bass. We have some mixes for you.

First up Chicago’s The Cool Kids, with a mixtape named perhaps to answer the, “is hip hop dead” question. The first track is the second track on the mixtape, which is straight up fire. They have a new single, “The Delivery Man” out now.

The Cool Kids – Box Of Rocks

The Cool Kids – That’s Stupid The Mixtape (23min)

This one is for lovers of deep hypnotic crunchy techno beats.  Montreal’s The Mole is playing Fabric in London next Saturday, September 6th.

The Mole – Live At Fabric (33min)

Tittsworth has recently released his first full length album, which has been three years in the making.  Pitchfork has panned the album citing “too little, too late”.  They argue that the Baltimore Club genre isn’t the freshest thing right now, which i’d agree with on a dj / music nerd, blog level.

I’d argue that the dance floor doesn’t lie.

Full tracklisting at Discobelle

Tittsworth - The McCain Mix – 2008 (56min)

The Crew

[vimeo]http://www.vimeo.com/1360987[/vimeo]

The Crew is a new web series that combines a Star Trek vibe with The Office’s awkward comedy. And it’s pretty damn good. They’ve got 3 episodes up with more coming in september. Holla . check em out at thecrew.tv

And in other news buy the new Tittsworth album that dropped yesterday. It’s pure b-more/Hip Hop fire.

this is Bee

What’s going on winnie cooper?? Special thanks to the boys for having me on board.

I will start with some words. Scott was picking my brain for justification on why bmore still needs to be talked about, and i promised him i would post what i told him, so here goes:

Baltimore Club is a totally new genre of music with new rules and new ideas, but no matter what, it is closer to house then hip-hop. Baltimore City was unique in its urban musical development in that they embraced house instead of rejecting it. While most cities, by the time the 90′s arrived, lost house to hip-hop’s homophobia, in Baltimore they had a drag queen MCing at one of the biggest clubs. Bmore loves house. Go to DJ Technics’ site and see how many mixes he has dedicated to house (can’t find that section right now but it’s there somewhere).

So, yeah, bmore club = new black house, and to me it’s an exciting departure from Whitey’s stronghold on the genre for the past decade or so.

Here’s a fresh summer house jam from Baltimore:
Jamma Quadrant one – Summertime ft Tapp

not all my posts will be this wordy ;)

Event Pics

Yo Majesty.

One of the new features of our blog is going to be a photo section!

Its still under wraps now as we get everything html a-ok.  To tie you all over, the first installment of it is up here.  The pictures are from a Yo Majesty! & Does it Offend You, Yeah? show here in Vancouver this past Wednesday.

Shunda K of Yo Majesty! had to do the show solo after Jwl. B wasn’t allowed into the country.  The concert was also competing with Buck 65 & Cadence Weapon show a few blocks away but Shunda still delivered to the delight of myself and the other fans there.

I managed to hear a lot of the groups new album after the show and what I heard blew me away.  Stay tuned as i’m trying to get some snipets from some of the new material up on the site.  It definately wasn’t what I had expected, there’s quite a diverse range of songs from party stompers to ballads and the production is tight.  Watch out for the groups continued effort of saving hip hop with their new album set for an August release.

Look for a lot more photo updates with past events soon and a revamped photo section (the photo section link doesn’t do much now).

This track was up at our old site Versus but it still bangs yo.
