the interview show: Cut Copy

Cut Copy are one of those bands that straddles the indie rock and DJ world. The remixes of their songs are sometimes as popular as their originals–especially when they get names like Mylo, Moulinex, Holy Ghost, Boys Noize and others to mess with their tracks.
I caught Cut Copy lead Dan Whitford at the soundcheck for their Miami show.
Cut Copy are here in Vancouver for a sold out show Friday and the good news is there is a second show on Saturday. Another favorite of mine Washed Out will be opening. See you there!

So part of Winnie Cooper is bumming around in Chicago for no good reason.
I had an eventful day here… I watched part of a Cubs game after some lady just randomly gave me a ticket, almost caught a foul ball, was stuck in an L train after a fire on the rail, and saw another fire in the Morton’s Steakhouse building.
Also, there was some kinda wind warning. I was like, “uhhhmm a wind warning in Chicago?” Holy crap them gusts were mad.

The Hottest Ish

Has anyone else been getting sick of the constant electro drivel that the internet has been saturated with lately? Esau Mwamwaya is going to save the day.
For those of you unfamiliar with Esau:
Esau Mwamwaya was born in Mzuzu in Malawi, East Africa. He grew up in the capital, Lilongwe, where he played drums in various bands such as Masaka Band.
In 1999 Esau Mwamwaya moved to London, England and he currently runs a second-hand furniture store in Clapton, East London.
Esau’s store is on the same street as Radioclit’s studio, and after the Radioclit boy’s bought a bike of Esau and invited him to one of their house warming parties, they made friends and started working on music together.
The first big splash he made with this version of Paper Planes, which is quite possibly the best of the 200 or so alternate versions of the track.

The past June, work was completed on Msau and Radioclit’s collaborative album which will feature tracks with M.I.A, Ezra from Vampire Weekend, Santogold and Marina of Bonde Do Role. They are waiting for a licensing deal to come into place before the album will drop.
In the meantime take a listen to these gems. Esau does Architecture in Helsinki’s “Heart it Races” and his version of “Cape Cod Kwassa”
