Missy Elliott. Who in my fantasy is openly gay.
She made some big hits with people like Tweet and Nicole Wray. These honey$ never got famous (like famous-famous). So… well I think Missy got a harem with sweet R&B-singers and sometimes she just picks one out (and they can walk around freely for 1 month, make the hit and….. back inside the Respect M.E. Castle – written in gold, neon and diamonds)…… after that it’s back to sweet love-making in a heartshaped bed with ruffles
………… You Can’t Beat Missy – I think she is the shit with the beatbeatbeat and I am playing her non-stop these days.

90’s-Thread The Needle

Santogold and Amanda Blank have done a killer cover version of this L.L. track as part of Santo’s Diplo remix album, “Top Ranking”. Remember Diplo/MIA’s “Piracy Funds Terrorism”? This is part two, and just as great. The cover made me remember my glory days where I’d pop this jam in my tape player.
2 Unlimited didn’t name themselves that by accident, they really were all about pushing the limits. Their debut album and break out hit was called, “Get Ready!” but really, could anyone? They must of been on some quality Dutch (Hi Margot!) designer drugs. No no, no no no no, no no no no, there’s no limit. There really is no limits, reach for the stars kids.
The term “get hype” was big back in the 90’s. This 1990 King Bee track and the accompanying video define it’s meaning.
King Bee - Back By Dope Demand
On another note, it’s time to bring back the, “Thread The Needle” and no, I’m not talking about sewing, although my mom did knit this cardigan, I’m talking about the dance.
I remember when I first saw it in a Kid N Play music video which I had recorded. I sat there on the rewind-pause, trying to figure it out.

A yotube search reveals, a) that there isn’t enough youtube vids of this, and b) that those stupid glow-stick rave victims have tried to make it into there own dance. It’s time to take the power back people.

Sweet nineties sweat

Ginuwine totally makes me wanne have…. a pony!
And they are not inferior to horses (yes they are..)
I was dancing to it when I was 14, did not know what the lyrics ment. Just thinking about ponies.

Cancun in the 90s

(picture: MJ, young boy and the yellow striped zebra don’t interest me that much.. but the location: Cancun in the 90s? )
Aww ‘Scream’ it was one of the first singles that I bought and it has these remixes on it. So here is the Dave “Jam” Hall’s Urban Remix Edit.
Michael Jackson – Scream (Dave “Jam” Hall’s Urban Remix Edit)
This next track has all the goodies. It’s from 1990 and makes Chad Jackson ‘The Great MacDaddy’ while it seems to have 3 great tracks in it. He probably eats his chocolate pie with strawberries, whipped cream and a bucket of lemonade because this shit is just tooo sweet.

We lift our hands in the sanctuary… Lift, lift, lift our hands… Clubhouse on it’s best. Actually not from the 90s (because it’s timeless).

Text on phone (very 00 not 90):
I borrowed a SNES with Mario World & Street Fighter. Come baby come baby baby come come
Street Fighter must be the game that you don’t need any skills for. Just be very skillful in pressing A,B → UP, UP, DOWN (maybe that is a skill). I had one trick with Honda that made me beat the woop-woop out of Blanka (and he’s from Brazil),
Mario on the other hand was a lot harder, too much of the green and red turtles/bowser/bowser’s son/whack ghosts etcetera. O and I sucked like big time.
But maybe my point is that these (S)Nes midi-files are very hot.
Besides this little childhood revival I stumbled upon Nightcrawlers.
Nightcrawlers – Push this feeling on
One should make (a) (great) remix(es) of this track.
(peace)
Versus’ 90’s Friday Lives!

We’re going to be continuing our everything 90’s weekly post that we’ve been doing at Versus here except it’s now going to be on Wednesdays. Im thinking we might call it something like Winnie’s wonderful wednesday 90’s jams, or maybe not.
If there’s a 90’s track that you think we should feature, don’t be shy!

Remember the Shaquille O’Neal phemonmenon? All of the sudden everything was about Shaq after the 7 foot tall, 325lbs, NBA star started shattering back boards. Next thing you knew there was a clothing line, shoes, a movie, a video game and even a rap album!

Did you know that 2pac started out as a backup dancer for Digital Underground? Changes was released as part of his Greatest Hits album two years after his 1996 death.
