Icona Pop – I Love It (video)
I find it really hard to hate this catchy-as-fuck pop song by Swedish duo Icona Pop. Mostly because they speak another language and I’m totes a 90′s bitch.

Ghost Beach – Miracle

New York based duo Ghost Beach are exactly what you need for summer, as their tropical take on indie pop is the perfect backdrop for new romances and drunken encounters.

Synthcake – Molding Through New Seasons

One of the toughest tricks in being a pop musician is creating music that feels current, and yet sets itself apart from it’s peers. In the midst of Vancouver’s indie scene, Synthcake rears it’s mast. The band makes a unique blend of electronic pop music that leaves many other local acts feeling just a tad generic. Believe it or not, Lana Pitre, frontlady and songstress of Synthcake, gets away with making indie-electro-circus pop, this is honestly the best way to describe what you hear.
Molding Through the Seasons is their freshly released EP. The five tracks offer a rich blend between hallucinative and haunting lady voices, and bouncing carnival grooves that are just plain fun.
Synthcake – Drip
Synthcake – Sail Away
You can check out their EP Release on May 11th, and you can purchase a digital copy of MTS on Bandcamp.

Danny Brown

By now you should already know about Danny Brown and his unique style of sex appeal so I’ll keep this to a minimum.
In terms of maturity, Brown is a relative latecomer to the hip-hop game. At thirty years of age, this Detroit native is just beginning to receive adequate attention for his provocative lyricism, infectious laugh, and refreshing honesty. (I should also note that his ability to pair together fitted jeans with eclectic vintage garments is beyond impressive.)
Brown’s most recent EP’s XXX and Black and Brown! landed him a spot on XXL magazine’s coveted Freshman Special of 2012 and he’s currently touring North America with Childish Gambino. (Unfortunately no Vancouver dates are scheduled as of yet.)
After a deal with G-Unit Records fell through in 2010, Brown signed with Fool’s Gold and is slated to release his as-yet-untitled solo debut album sometime this year. And with besties like A$AP Rocky and ScHoolboy Q, it’s hard to deny Brown’s future success within the next generation of hip-hop artists.

Giveaway: GAUNTLET HAIR @ The Waldorf

Denver-based duo Gauntlet Hair are hitting up the Waldorf this Saturday with Dana Buoy and we want to make sure you don’t miss out on another oppurtunity to get laid. (I should also add that their noise-pop anthems are beyond infectious and made hundreds of concert goers swoon at SWSW this year.)
So we’re giving away two tickets to two lucky winners and all you gotta do is email win.e.coop.r(@)gmail.com with your contact information and the names of the two individuals who make up Gauntlet Hair. You can find it here. Deadline is Saturday at 11:00 am.
