#YVR – 2 Live Crew at Fortune Sound Club (Contest)
Fortune Sound Club is starting off 2013 with some solid shows, including the legendary 2 Live Crew on Wednesday, January 23.
Besides NWA, no rap group has generated more controversy than 2 Live Crew. Their X-rated party anthems and the fierce attacks on the group’s First Amendment rights made the group a prime media target during the late 1990′s. But regardless of the publicity, both negative and positive, the impact 2 Live Crew has had on the industry cannot be denied. They were responsible for popularizing the hard-driving sound of Miami bass music and are synonymous with “booty rap”, a dance subgenre that relies on simple yet explicit chants and up-tempo beats.
Their upcoming show at Fortune Sound Club will also feature the World Famous XXX Dancers with musical performances by M!G!H, CHERCHEZ LA FEMME, Too High Crew, The Phonograff, and Winnie’s newest contribtor Blondtron. Limited early bird tickets are only $15 and can be purchased online or at Highlife, DIPT, Red Cat, and Beatstreet Records.
