Lost Lover’s Brigade

I have been a secret admirer of Lost Lover’s Brigade for a while. They have mainly been playing small underground shows in Vancouver and not many. I was attracted by the lo-fi county infused songs on “the groups” myspace that I found myself listening to on repeat.

The project has been mostly a solo project by Singer-songwriter Elisha May Rembold who recorded on a Sears tape recorder she got from her grandmother.  Now playing as a group with members of the Polaris Prize nominated band, Apollo Ghosts they have just finished an album at JC/DC studios (Destroyer, New Pornographers).

Exciting stuff.

The Lost Lover’s Brigade celebrate the release of their long awaited debut, Little Skeletons, on Friday, December 16 at Interurban Gallery (1 East Hastings Street). The show starts at 8pm and also features performances from Shimmering Stars and Kellarissa.

fundrive design small

Our friends over at CiTR are holding their annual Fundrive for 2011.

If you didn’t know, CiTR is the broadcasting voice of UBC, providing Vancouver with alternative, progressive, and community-oriented programming. Of course, it’s also home to some of Winnie’s faveeee programs like Radiozero and Inside Out Radio.

CiTR depends heavily on money raised through this annual on-air fundraiser to keep it going, and you can help – IT’S EASY! Fundrive donations are being accepted until November 24 by calling CiTR at 604-822-8648, or you can make your pledge online: JUST CLICK HERE to donate.

Grace – Fundrive 101 from CiTR on Vimeo.

To celebrate Fundrive 2011, the finale event will be held at The Biltmore on Friday November 25 with a big silent auction and an amazing line up of bands: Shimmering Stars, Defektors, Shearing Pinx, Womankind, Synthcake, World Club, and Love Cuts. Click here to get more info and buy tickets.

No Shame

pat lok no shame

Pat Lok has been working hard and the payoff is here. The Vancouver DJ and producer gets his debut EP released today on French label On The Fruit Records, and Winnie is giving it a thumbs up!

The EP comes with remixes of the title track “No Shame” from Bit Funk (Defected), Goldroom (LA), OHYEAH (Germany) and Volta Bureau (currently Beatport Indie Dance #1).

Buy the EP and get more info HERE.
