WHITE DENIM

WHITE DENIM is a four piece from Austin, Texas. The band was formed in 2006 and have received critical acclaim for their latest release, titled “D”. This is the band’s fourth studio album. Lead vocals done by James Petralli are so unique and pure complemented beautifully by a bluesy guitar sound. Listen to my fave track on “D” and soon this will be your favorite band too.

U Tatted Up U Tatted Up

Still not too sure what the message is in this video, but it’s an interesting insight into Weezy’s brain at least. Obviously it’s a part of his branding and promotion machine, and it’s like hangin’ around shootin’ the shit with him on a Sunday afternoon at his crib, drinking tea and “skating.”

Now, if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna run off to go get my Young Money Discover Debit Card.

the interview show: 12th Planet

12th Planet is often called the American ambassador of Dub Step. And in this interview, I make him live up to his name. This interview is a great starting point for people who want to know the basics of dub step and drum and bass.

For now, 12th Planet may not be as big as some of the other dub step producers in the game, simply because he has been slow to put out his own material. Instead he has been content to make tracks with almost all of the players in dub step. He explains that he is too meticulous with his tracks to work as quickly as his peers, but we should be seeing a record out soon.

I would strongly recommend seeing 12th Planet play. He is one of the most experienced DJs in the game and this shows with how deftly he weaves together different genres in his sets and how he builds to what he calls “shocks.”

Luckily, 12th Planet is here in Vancouver October 21 and 22nd, opening for Skrillex. See you there!

Next week, we have our chat with Skrillex!

Ride The Cyclone

We don’t normally post theater events BUT Victoria’s Atomic Vaudeville theater troop have set up shop in Vancouver for their latest production, the musical, Ride The Cyclone.  We can’t say enough good things, and highly recommend seeing it.

It is in it’s final week in Vancouver before heading to Whitehorse then Toronto.

Full details at their website.
