the interview show: Skrillex

This interview was one of the most crazy ones I’ve done recently.
Deep into a grueling tour, Skrillex did not want to do any more interviews. He was getting burned out from press (in our chat he tells me why), but somehow he got convinced to meet.
We chatted in the basement of Celebrities nightclub, since Skrillex would only do the interview in the club. If you listen closely, you can hear the beats from upstairs and the taps of feet on the dancefloor above us, along with pieces of the ceiling falling down on us.
His tour manager stood beside us during the entire chat, handing Skrillex cigarettes and drinks.
A completely insane situation, but completely worth it for the chance to talk to one of the most interesting, not to mention most talented, upstarts in electronic music.

Winnie Discovers The Elwins

Prancing around in Toronto for Indie Week… Winnie stumbled upon something cute of a musical foursome. Hailing from Newmarket Ontario, The Elwins are Matthew Sweeney (lead singer/guitar), Travis Stokl (traps & snares), Feurd (guitar/keys) and Christopher Shannon (bass). They released their first EP back in 2008 through Chemical Sound Studios, and according to Wikipedia have a full length due to release this year…? Enjoy their single, “Stuck In The Middle“, and be sure to keep yourselves up to date with these cats on their Facebook page here.

Second Date

Second Date is Henry Birkbeck, a 24-year-old London-based producer.
He describes his music as “balearic disco-step” which is not a bad way to classify his work. A quick listen of his Soundcloud and you’ll hear LOTS of different influences. His remixes sound polished and tight, stuff that deejays love to find and play often.
I’m surprised his Facebook fan page only has just over a hundred likes.
