More Napkins

Formerly DJ Co-op, Tim Hoover just released an album that “straddles the line between DJ mix and instrumental album.”
Mike B, who produces under the name Beauchamp, made a remix for the project. Check it out:

the interview show: greatest hits?!

Hello Folks!
We are working on our new “fall season” of shows as we speak. Bonjay. K.Flay. 12th Planet. Mother Mother. Delhi 2 Dublin. Braids. Nu Sensae. And many more.
Until then, we have some of my favorites to tide you over.
Sept 5th: the interview show with Evil Ebenezer (Somehow, this Vancity Hip Hop Hustler always ends up dressed as a priest.)
Sept 12th: the interview show with Bran Van 3000 (Remember “Drinking In LA“? Canada’s Supergroup from the 90s returns with some new thunder.)
Sept 19th: the interview show with Spaceship for Sale (Guest Starring Vinyl Theory! DBL Dragon! Eeek! 3 local bands ask a local industry expert for advice!)
See you soon!

When The Mountain Man, He Let’s You Down

I’ve spoken to countless people about this band and every time they’re at a loss on how to describe them. If you disagree with me, I challenge you to listen all the way through. “Mountain Man” is the final track to Yes Nice’s latest, self produced record “Blindfolded“. Share this tune with that new girl, that special boy, or a close friend in your life and let Winnie know if you found what we heard in this tune — Heart. Take it, it’s yours… you deserve to celebrate it.

Have You Met These Classy Italians?

M+A are Michele Ducci and Alessandro Degli Angioli from Forlì, Italy. Contrary to the sophistication of their music… these boys are just kids. Keep a close eye on these cats and be sure to check out their full length out on Monotreme Records November 7th.

Check Out This Birds Nest

The Ruffled Feathers, you know em’? If you don’t, you should. These cats are a force to be reckoned with. Not only did they kill it at Fringe, but they dominated Winnie’s heart. The Ruffled Feathers are comprised of the mandolin playing existentialist Charley Wu, the soft-spoken sparrow Gina Loes, the gilded melodies of trumpeter Andrew Lee, Matty Jeronimo and Sam MacKinnon. I have yet to meet this awkwardly handsome quintet, but look forward to it in the very near future. Check out their track, “Home“, from their EP “Lost Cities“. You can also check them out with David Vertesi at The Electric Owl on Sept 29th… Winnie will see you there.
