Ost & Kjex

Check out this falsetto ditty by Ost & Kjex. Kind of has a bit of a Prince feel.
The Norwegian duo are from Oslo. Their album, Cajun Lunch has been out for about a year but is still somewhat “under le radar”.

New Active Child Lp

Loving this preview of L.A. resident, Active Child’s new LP “You Are All I See”. Kinda perfect on this rainy melancholic Monday morning. Reminds me of Austra with it’s minimalism, deep moody dub tones and bass.
Active Child plays in Vancouver for the Olio Festival at Electric Owl Saturday September 24th. Event pg.

Bon Iver Can Do No Wrong

I don’t think I’ve heard one shitty thing about this album so far. Hailing from North Wisconsin, Justin Vernon is the brain child behind Bon Iver. After the (independent) release of their last album, For Emma, Forever Ago, the group has been doing nothing but fuelling their career to epic stardom. Good luck trying to find a ticket to one of their shows anytime soon… we’ve tried. This is for you — “Holocene” from Bon Iver.

Andrés aka DJ Dez this Saturday
Andrés aka DJ Dez (Mahogani, KDJ, Slum Village) was born in Detroit and raised partly in South-Central LA. Through this, Andrés has absorbed varied influences, beginning at age 3 when he received his first set of percussion drums, and citing major inspiration from artists as diverse as James Brown, Kraftwerk, and the Cuban group, Irakere. In 1989, he began to DJ in California, and he soon began working at the popular Buy-Rite Records on 7 Mile Rd with co-worker Kenny Dixon Jr aka Moodymann.
This Saturday at The Waldorf, VVO and leisureleisure.com are bringing the legendary producer and DJ to Vancouver for his first ever visit. Check it out… more details on the event page HERE.
