Johnny De Courcy – Andrea’s Song
this is andrea’s song. rest in peace.
somebody somebody somebody told me you had a boyfriend
somebody somebody somebody told me you were a man
but nobody told me the things that made me adore you
so i still don’t understand, cause all i want to do is hold your hand.
the flowers in your hair match the love in your heart
the love it your heart speaks so loud its insane
and i can’t see and i can’t breathe when you are around me
so breathe your loving breath down onto me
and dance and sing tonight cause we are free.
and you will never know the reasons we are here
the only thing that matters is you and i my dear
i’ll drown away your sadness and i’ll burn away your fear
cause i adore you
and i cant ignore you
oh andrea give me your hand and we’ll fly far away now
through the rain and through the snow to a place that i know
where everything and everyone loves with out sadness
and i’ll never have to go
cause you’re inside my body head to toe
and when you speak i listen, to the words you softly sow
of all the things you taught me, theres one that’ll never go
it’s not the toys you die with, but the people that you know
and i got to know you
and i want to tell you
that you are amazing
to me.

Lifetime Collective x Salazar
Vancouver based Lifetime and Salazar bring you part two of their trip to the desert highlighting their 2012 Spring and Summer lines.
When ten human beings cram their bodies and belongings into a van and embark on a weeklong journey into the desert, you can be sure the trip will represent something slightly different for everyone: adventure, relaxation, or even a romance produced by lack-of-sleep.
But at least they can all agree on one thing: that Lifetime shoots will inevitably go as unplanned and strangers will soon become family.
Mixing poetry and music, this film tells the story of four kids whose desire to escape the daily grind results in a weeklong voyage into the red sands of Arizona.
Tired of work, with big dreams of play, our group is overcome by the longing for a new place to roam, jump, dance and camp out. This is Salazar’s vision of bliss, a portrait of the road and a love letter to the crazy adventures that Lifetime can’t help but attract.
The story is split in 2. Where Part 1 mirrors the home movie, full of climactic moments and candid gems, Part 2 explores the land and all the escapist madness it generated.
“We drove endless hours falling in and out of sleep. I’d close my eyes in a forest and wake up in a red sand desert. The constant rumble of the tires on the road created a vibration that followed us everywhere.”
Why they may have stayed too long…

Purity Ring – Bellespeak

BRAND NEW PURITY RING.
If they come to your city do not miss them. Their live show stands up to the hype. The next Fever Ray.
They play #Vancouver @ Electric Owl Social Club, Sept 7th opening for Yacht.
Long Wknd Massif #YVR-9/4

Depending on your level of internet nerdery you may or may not of heard that Gobble Gobble have changed their name to BORN GOLD.
The group have literally been touring non stop for the last year+ and have managed to spur the Purity Ring and Kuhrye-oo side projects that you will continue to hear a lot more about. They have emerged from playing clandestine basements to festival main stages.
They are coming back to Vancouver this upcoming long weekend, Sunday Sept 4th at the Electric Owl, 928 Main St. The next day is the last day of summer break, it should be celebrated.
Their debut Lp, aptly titled, “Bodysongs” comes out September 20th. Get the MP3s on September 9th if you pre-order the LP at INSOUND
CHECK DA NEW TUNES.
Born Gold – Alabaster Bodyworlds
local support from:

Blood Diamonds. Internet phenomenon / new to the local scene front page celeb / maker of hot fire.
Blood Diamonds – Grins (with Louise Burns on vocals)

+Teen Daze
Pepper Rabbit – Murder Room (Teen Daze Remix)
Daytrotter record an insane amounts of artists (everyone from Mt Kimbe to Wavves and Vampire Weekend) quickly in their studio as they pass through town. It’s often more of an acoustic one take recording that they do which ends up being a very unique raw take on the artist. Teen Daze was a recent recordee which rules. This track is from that session. Check it all out here.
Teen Daze – Violence (daytrotter)
Event Page. Tickets avail at doors. 8pm. Get there early.
The “talents” start at 9 and we have a 12:15 curfew for live music because the City of Vancouver is laaame and want new businesses like the Electric Owl to not be part of our wonderful local music scene. Gregor do something. eff.

YVR – Treelines

Treelines are originally from Kelowna but relocated to Vancouver. We did one of their first shows back in 09′. I have been waking up to them on the radio as of late to this beautiful song.
I usually hate local radio, it’s absolutely terrible and they think it’s still 1996 and play nothing but the worst embarrassing Canadian music like this and shitty “rock” on repeat. No offense to Chad, i hear he has a massive whang which he shows to girls at the Roxy which is cool and what I would do if I was him…. but there are other good bands u know…?
100.5 fm The Peak is a newer radio station I have been impressed with. I want to work for them (hire me I spent all my $ on twizzlers and i’m broke). They do good things like the Peak Performance Project which every year they take a group of finalists off to band boot camp and the best act to emerge wins $150k. Not too shabby. They do a really good job of supporting the local scene.
Treelines are finalists this year. Maybe they’ll win and we can all say we got rich friendz.
N E ways, this song is a beaut and the lyrics are “touching”.
