Givers Not Takers

Givers are (safe to say) the best new band you’ve never heard of. An indie 5-piece with a slight afro influence out of Louisiana, they been riding on the hypetrain for a bit ever since they opened for Dirty Projectors at SXSW last spring. Well, now they’re officially signed and just released their full-length “In Light” this week. an impressive debut that shines summer album. If you’re down with the likes of Ra Ra Riot, Vampire Weekend, Mystery Jets, go check them… or be sad you didn’t.

YVR – New No Gold Video

No Gold are arguably one of the best Vancouver indie acts BUT, we STILL haven’t put on a show with them despite our best efforts.
Maybe they are just too busy making amazing music? I still love them. Maybe one day… #dreams
Their self titled new album on Unfamiliar is a gem and definitely worth purchasing on the vinyl long player.
They have a new video directed by Peter Hagge that features them on the roof of their Chinatown studio in Vancouver, in May.
NO GOLD // ‘PULUTI’ from HOLD//FAST on Vimeo.
They play in Toronto at NXNE today, June 17th and 18th. Spread the love.
No Gold – Resolver
Queeeeeensbridge

New Nas single is ridiculous. Reminds me of classic Nas material off “Illmatic.”
It’s been nearly three years since he’s released any new real solo work. “Life Is Good” is the title of the forthcoming album due for release later this year and it’s expected to have lots of collaborations including Kanye West and Frank Ocean.
LET’S GO
OK. So hockey in Vancouver is officially over. A lot of people are pissed. Some people lit cop cars on fire, some cried and some people drank their own pee BUT we’re over it. Thank god it’s summer. Well almost.
Ever wanted to HEAR Don Cherry’s suit? This is a falsetto away from being a Hercules and the Love Affair b-side.
