Heebeegeebees pt 4
Kaput and Crums are Vancouver based graffiti inspired artists.

In the two years of touring since releasing their debut album, Insomnia, The Racoons have received accolades from multiple music magazines and radio stations, including “Best New Artist” by CBC Radio 3. Their songs are lavish with catchy hooks and have been played for the crowds of Rifflandia, Sled Island, and Big Time Out festivals, as well as used for episodes of MTV’s The Hills and 16 and Pregnant.
Dbl Dragon want to save the world through partying. Two drummers pulsate this five-piece dance act, resulting in a rich, layered sound. This summer they played for Olio and Fringe Festival, and have since been busy circulating Vancouver stages.
All of these artists will be at part 4 of the Heebeegeebees music and art series at Chapel Arts, Thursday 8pm-11pm.
Buy tickets now for the Finale Halloween party Saturday October 30th with live music from local favorites Love and Electrik (who have shared the stage with Chromeo, La Roux and the Very Best) as well as the Winnie Cooper djs and exciting new Vancouver pop act Peter Breeze…
Humans MV Release Fotos!
Never in my life have I ever seen the Cobalt as busy as Oct. 15th. Before going on tour, Humans decided to release their newest music video and Vancouver really showed them how much they’ll be missed. Having reached capacity by 11, Christian Hansen & The Autistics from Edmonton, Wizardz, Autocoid (Peter from Humans) and of course Humans tore up the stage with a little duet from Dbl Dragon’s Tristan and Peter from Humans. Check it out here!

I am in search of a new dance rock band after The Rapture are apparently done.
So, I set out to Venue last Friday night to check out UK dance-punk band The Foals. I was a bit worried for the band since Gogol Bordello was sold out across the street, it was an early show, and NMS had SuperCassettes. But our city’s UK expat contingent never disappoints and Vancouver has a sizable anglophile community of its own–and they all turned out to fill Venue for the show.
The Foals lead, Yannis, definitely knows how to draw focus with his own drums and acrobatics. By the end of the show he was climbing all over the stage and up the balcony.
It was infectious and despite the best efforts of Venue security, fans fought their way onstage to dance with the band. Yannis told the security to leave his flock alone and eventually they did.
Yannis did promise that the band would be back this spring, so all UK dance-punkers know to keep their calendars open. This was probably the last time to see them at such an intimate venue.
The sweetest moment of the night was the very end when one disoriented fan wished the dispersing crowd well with a “thanks for coming.” The band had long since left the stage and she now felt as much a part of the show as the band.
The only thing good about an early Friday night show is that after you are free to enjoy your night at NMS where you got to take in Vancouver’s ?next hype band? Supercassettes, along with Dreamboat and Alonzo.
the interview show: Winter Gloves

As long as he can remember, Charles F (glasses) wanted to be in a band, but he grew up in a small rural town in Quebec where singing indie music in English wasn’t really an option. As soon as he could, he moved to the big city of Montreal with a whole album of songs, searching for the band.
Winter Gloves was born! I talked to Charles F the last time Winter Gloves were in town. If you listen closely, you can hear the rain drops tapping on the roof of their tour van. Listen to him tell the story of that journey.

Winter Gloves are in town this week, Oct 27th at The Biltmore! See you there. The band will show off their new record. The show has been cancelled. Sad!
