Munnnnnnday

fluffy flowers

This lil’ remix here is what Monday is all about.

It starts off groggy. Everything is kinda blurry… it builds at an easy pace, and then there’s a slight pause with a little breakdown where you can start making sense of things.

It gets awesome just after the three minute mark and then, just when you’re feeling good, it fades away.

the interview show: Diamond Rings

“Cuz in the summer weather…/ We’ll put on sunscreen together…/ I would not want your skin to burn…”

“All Yr Songs” is my indie song of the summer.

Diamond Rings is the electro-acoustic project of John O and his crew. Check out all their vids–they are clever, well-crafted and endearingly goofy.

I tried to get John O to tell me who “All Yr Songs” is about. Heh: Listen to him dodge my questions. He also tells me what he would do to change the look of UK electro queen La Roux, if she fell into his makeup chair.

La Roux “In For The Kill” (Lifelike remix)

Aspirations “Get Fucked” (My other fav summer song.)

Sled Island Day 2

Yesterday was still pretty sleep deprived. Feeling a lot better today.  My head isn’t spinning.  Managed to take an hour and a half to try and get to Auntie’s place “2o minutes away” in the burbs yesterday.  My iphoney was dying and I thought I was going to be stranded on an overpass “somewhere” outside of Calgary for life.

Managed to forget my camera also. (please excuse the terrible photo)

Highlights include hometown “gents” Bison BC at The Ship and Anchor.  The place was going off and the bouncers where gettin crazy escourting / “chokeholding” people who were getting a little too rowdy out the back door.  Must of had something to do with the “1080P” projector that was hanging precariously above people as they crowd surfed.  Oh and Bison aren’t metal apparently according to true affectionados they are stoner metal. now u know.

Bison B.C. – Earthbound

Bison B.C. – Stokasaurus

Deerhoof was also pretty great (they play Vancouver on Saturday). I must say though, I hate it when bands play loong sets.  Leave those suckers wanting more!

Deerhoof – Milking

Moar photos tomorrow. Having lots of fun. <3Usledisland.

Follow my live to the minute bad “jokes” here.

Sled Island Day 1

Happy Canada day!

Drove for 14hours, got in at 10:30 then dj’d the Beatroute after party til 5am.  Serious mind trip. Still feeling scatterbrained AND i’m having a bad hair day.  I have a beer now so i’m feeling a lot better….

Didn’t get to see any official Sled shows arriving so late. I heard Deerhoof blew people’s mind as well as Big Freedia (my current obsession). Freedia is hopefully playing another after party so hopefully I can sniff that out.

Ty Segal played the afterparty with Walter TV, Blines, Sharp Ends and Myelin Sheaths which was pretty awesome.  It was in an unventilated basement that helped people lose their minds (and further deterioarted mine).  Ty plays today as well as Turbo Fruits, RatTail, Nu Sensae, White Lung, Chain and The Gang, Brazilian Money, Babe Rainbow, Black Lips and far too many other great bands.

Follow my alcoholic adventures in Cowtown live here.

Ty Segall – Imaginary Person

Ty Segall – Girlfriend

Speak soon. hopefully!
