NMS Fri…

This week at NMS we have The Stolen Organ Band. The group have shared the stage with Mother Mother, Yo La Tengo and Hot Panda to name a few.  They have a very unique brand of pixies-esque “psychedelic folk” perhaps I would call it…??

The Stolen Organ Family Band – I Don’t Care About Anything

Also playing are nms faves Koban and a newish band were really excited about, Bummer High.

NMS with the winniecooper.net djs is every Friday at the Cobalt, 917 Main St. Join the Facebook group already.

+++ Free cover b4 10.  +++We have guest list spot for our winnie pals. @gmail.com?subject=NMS guesty plzz Winnie">internet-mail us

In The Summer

summer

I always liked Telepathe. There’s a certain rawness to their music that makes it sound more punk even though it’s electronic based.

Here’s their remix of the new Crystal Fighters song.

Crystal Fighters – In The Summer (Telepathe Remix)

Annnd here’s a picture of Crystal Fighters being all aloof/emo/smarmy/aggro.

the interview show: Plants and Animals

These guys look like they have been properly medicated. Their latest record La La Land definitely goes down smoothly. It was inspired by their constant touring of US, giving us songs lke “American Idol” and “Tom Cruz.” I chat with P&A’s Matthew Woodley about the night the spirit of Tom Cruise came to visit the band. What did he say?

Plants and Animals on the interview show

Plants and Animals “Kon Tiki” My favourite song on La La Land. It was inspired by a day of touring wineries and then trying to find a hotel at the beach. Hmmmm… This inspires me to make a similar trip. Who wants to join?

The Hood Internet (Amanda Blank vs Vega) “No Reason To Like You Better” This track is two of my favorite bands mashed together by one of Chicago’s up and coming producers. It should tide you over, the interview is coming up in a couple of weeks.

the interview show is everywhere! (interviewshow[at]gmail.com)
