Archive for February, 2010:
the interview show: DOUBLESHOT!

This week, we do something a little unusual. We have TWO bands on the show, Listening Party AND Slam Dunk.
Both these Island bands are boarding the ferry to come play a show for you soon. Check them out @ New Brandiz, February 20th.
Ah, the Island. Such a weird and wonderful place. It certainly breeds characters and interesting music. Listen to the interview and you will see what I mean.

Beachy
Vivian Girls w/ Best Coast & Cosmetics @ the Biltmore. Dude, just seeing Best Coast was worth the price of admission. Lazy-beachy lo-fi fuzz pop that is all Bethany Cosentino stole the show…but how can a fight get started during her set? cool it. Olympic protest down the street. Go there. Vivian Girls hustled through what sounded like 14 song set only to lose steam at the end and insisted on an encore when the closing music went on. As for Cosmetics, you may have seen Nic and Aja in their stint as Ice Cream a few years back. They’ve traded in the ice cream pop for a more darker synth-sound. Definitely need to see them again on a tighter bill. Photos of the show.
