Craig and the Werewolf

Apparently if you live in Los Angeles at least 80% of your friends are in the film industry. And a bunch of mine are at the forefront of WebTV. We’ve got the second season of  the SciFi Comedy The Crew with just recently added to the cast Jessica Rose (lonelygirl15 fame) and Robin Thorsen of The Guild.

As well as the just in time for Halloween second season of Craig and The Werewolf. The acting and writing have improved 10 fold and it’s only going to get better. The episodes for both shows average around 4 minutes so you can get through an entire season in one sold sitting. Here’s the newest episodes below but you should really start from the beginning.

The Crew

Craig and The Werewolf

Also my good friend Walter Hinchmans just released an acoustic album, “The Serene” filled with all the love and heartbreak your ears can muster. Check out his first single The Uncrowning below!

And to keep with my usual posts.

Africa

Ive been doing some digging and came across some gems.

Some african 80′s electro funk.

Yvonn Chaka Chaka – I’m In Love With The DJ

Bad ass, Chicago House-ish Kwaito.

Dj Tira – Tira’s Boots

FOKOL – Alaska The Big Five (Plan B)

All found via this very awesome article on XLR8

And this from West Africa: c/o http://multitunes.blogsome.com/

Angola has the largest number of landmines in the world after Afghanistan. Nearly half of the land in Angola is considered too dangerous to walk on. Hundreds have been killed and perhaps as many as 80.000 injured with a serious disability.

Here you can see some Angolan landmine survivors dancing kuduru

Angola was in civil war from the 1970’s to 2002 and it was one of the largest and longest armed conflicts of the Cold War. Angola has mines made in Russia, United States, South Africa, and Italy among other countries. There are many interests on Angola as it is the 2nd biggest oil producer in Sub-Saharan Africa after Nigeria and it is the 4th biggest diamond source in the world.

Babe Rainbow is on a roll right now. After getting the attention of some of the most reputable music publications (NME, Gorilla Vs Bear, 20 Jazz Funk Greats, and Exclaim to name a few), he is now working on music for the release of an EP on the amazing Warp Records label.

His tracks are like heroin except without the dry mouth and warm flashes. Here is an exclusive sneak download of a track off the upcoming release. Winnie loves it!

the interview show: felix cartal

Felix Cartal is a Vancouver boy who is signed to DJ ubermensch Steve Aoki‘s Dim Mak label. His sound is that hard hitting dance stuff like Boys Noize or Surkin. Before he became hipster cool, he created hype for himself by doing bootleg remixes. Below compare a “bootleg” MSTRKRFT remix with an “official” one

Felix Cartal on the interview show

MSTRKRFT “The Looks” (Felix Cartal bootleg remix)

MSTRKRFT (ft. NORE) “Bounce” (Felix Cartal official remix)

No More Strangers Update

You know what it’s like when you sweat blood, cry tears, shit yourself, shit tears of cry-blood and work really hard to make something fun and awesome? Well, here’s the story of No More Strangers, a little Tomas the Tank Engine party that WinnieCooper.net started at a local bar. After having our slow clap moment, in the form of an awesome, packed to the walls local bands extravaganza on our night….we got bitchslapped. Bar owner greed, stupidity, poor advising, perhaps Satan, all collided and the No More Strangers crew were informed by the host bar that things were going to change. The owner’s completely unreasonable demands left the NMS promoters no choice but to end the night abruptly, pack their little musician suitcases and head out in search of a new home.

We want to thank everyone for their support in the past few days, it has been really inspiring.

THE PARTY DID CONTINUE this past Saturday at a new Venue we are sussing out, Smileys! at 911 W Pender where we brought the same DIY party, rad bands, silly tunes and cheap drinks minus that terrible slum lord urine smell.

We have some photos from the night here.  Big thanks for everyone that came out, Wreck Beach, Makeout Videotape and Bad Fate who kept the show going! We will not die!  Join our No More Strangers facebook page for all upcoming info.

We have some amazing video from Basketball’s live set from our Basketball, Gang Violence, Babe Rainbow and Boogie Monster show two weeks ago. Turn it up real loud and its almost like your there. The show was a highlight of my life.  The most credible Indie Vancouver music site, From Blown Speakers said some really rad stuff about the show. If you missed it, Basketball play with No Gold and Human (who are also playing our Halloween party) tomorrow (tue Oct 27th) at Fortune. GO AND SEE THEM. they will blow yr mind.  Get there early its going to be packed.

Show details to follow on our super rad Halloween show, now moved to The Lions Den.

This is my current jam. Vancouver’s Bob Rock (Motley Crue / Metallica) first group.
