Let’s Get Together

Okay okay okay.
It’s back to school time and we need to get together to celebrate something. Soooooo the Winnie Cooper DJs are taking over the Metropole (aka the Met) in Gastown!
I’m gonna wear my best oxford shirt and we’re gonna play the funnest songs EVER IN THE WORLD. That means big time pop joints, cheese rock crowd pleasers, the best electro remixes, dancey indie jams, rap favourites, 90s…
This long weekend Sunday, round up some friends and shine up your dancing brogues. This will be super duper! Plus we’ll bring some candy and you can have a piece.
Dance Area – AA 24/7 (Diplo Remix)
La Roux – In For The Kill (Twelves Remix)
Naughty By Nature – Feel Me Flow

OK, so big NMS strangers news. We now have a sponsor, the glorious people at Beatroute Magazine, hooray. The bar is now open til 2am which leaves a lot more time for a lil dancin. +++ We now have a $1.50 beer special which is pretty much the greatest ever because I’m sure you’re like me and have no frickin monies.
We have a very exciting gig coming up this Saturday. Two super heroes from Victoria are coming out to hang. They are both with Old Life records (which is an amazing little indie label out of Vic). Dreamboat is a solo project by one of the Colourbook members.
Dreamboat – Molly Ringwald
Dreamboat – Pretty Boys
Balacade – Ghost Car
Balacade – Piano Fire
+++ We have Stefana Fratila, who reminds me of two of my fave artists, Bjork and Joanna Newsom. We just shot this take away with her this past Friday. That’s her boyfriend beat boxing. It’s pretty much the cutest thing ever except for the knife that was found at the location which was probably used to kill someone.

Basically a one-hit wonder, this track from Central Line never gets tired.
Originally released in 1981, the legendary Larry Levan also released his own version.
Can you guess who has sampled it? Too easy!
