Sooooooooo the weekend’s almost here.
You can sit around in your undies, or get ready and go dancing. Or you can go dancing in your undies.
Either way, this little jam here is appropriate.
By now you’re familiar with A-Trak and AVH as Duck Sauce, right? Well, then you’ll recognize this… oh man is it ever good!

WHOA. Call me a big geek but I love this song. Puffy singing in the most fragile voice over the most hardcore beat, with Biggie, the angel, beside him on the track. Video is also dope, with the originator Hype Williams giving a nod to the late ’90s Ruff Ryders.

09-09-09

I went to visit my parents over the long weekend.
True to form, when I arrived, my dad was wearing a ‘Let It Be’ t-shirt and blaring the Sgt Peppers album on a 4-track reel to reel.
Pretty much from birth to age 10, I heard at least two Beatles songs per day and could recite most of the lyrics by the time I was 12.
I thank my dad now for basically raising me on the Beatles and we have both been really looking forward to the official release of the Beatles remastered catalog today (although it’s looking like I’ll have to battle it out to get my hands on a set).
The Libertines do an excellent job on this Beatles cover by not straying far from the original.
The Libertines – Eight Days A Week (Beatles Cover)
Oh yeah… and leave it to Yoko Ono to cause some controversy whenever she can.
Wavves over and over
Wavves! Wavves is a lo fi noise punk sound. Wavves splices Caesars on the patio, pineapple and Malibu in the sand then whisky shots at midnight. The most recent full length album, Wavvves**, is filled with unconventional beach songs: Beach Demon, Gun in the Sun, California Goth, Beach Goth. Wavves knows what it’s like to cycle back to East Van from Jericho Beach. Wavves knows what it’s like sitting on the floor waiting for your friend to try on another pair of pants and then ask you about it and nothing’s changed but you continue to be polite so they just hurry up already.
Getting into Wavves at the end of the summer, start of the autumn is perfect. You’re getting mopey goth songs about the beach, so who really wants to go there when it’s raining.
The best thing about Wavves is that they keep releasing new material. Mickey Mouse and Cool Jumper are songs that have taken off from Possum: the whole album experience is behind these tracks and it’s new music on the fourteen track album and it’s just so super.

**Thanks for the Correction! I was wrong! You were right, Internet. My bad.
Juepucha!

Loving whatever this free album is from De Juepucha!. So much going on within these 19 tracks.
“De Juepuchas is a solo project from Diego Maldonado from Colombia. According to Diego “the project kind of resembles Girl Talk, The Avalanches, Daft Punk, Plastilina Mosh, M.I.S…”
