June 25th 2009

I don’t normally get all emo but I was surprisingly pretty messed up yesterday.

I think I was more saddened than shocked at the news. Who really pictured MJ living to be 60? He was someone that attempted to never grow up and literally gave everything he had to his fans.

I wrote a post on Michael back in March and things sounded pretty terrible for him. He was auctioning off the entire contents of his Neverland estate (at his lowest point of popularity), sicked by the place and what it had come to be while supposedly fighting off a form of flesh eating disease caused by his ongoing surgeries.

I think this is more than just a loss of a man, but also for the artistic spirit that he embodied. This is a loss for anyone that has ever strove for perfection and hurt yourself in the process, giving a part of you away with it. Michael was someone with adoring fans who he loved more than anything.

The only consolation I find is that I don’t think he was a happy man and this is perhaps how it was meant to be.

I didn’t know if listening to his music would be the right thing yesterday but I couldn’t find anything else that suited being played and hearing his spirit alive in the way it is in his music is a beautiful thing. This is what he would of wanted and is how he would of wanted to be remembered.

Ive spent more years than id like to admit djing and playing music for people and can probably say Michael was the single artist whose music I’ve played the most. I have seen the joy his music brings to people firsthand and am sure the same things happens in cities around the world. I believe that this contribution is immeasurable and I think that is what made me so sad. He died trying to attempt the brave feat of putting on one last show for his fans.

same here… I was no big MJ fan, but the effect of the loss and his incredible body of work has left me feeling very sad for a talent and an era that is gone.
    thanks for the post
