Archive for January, 2009:
Rosson Crow
Rosson Crow, a 27-year-old Texan who lives in SoCal, has a great new show of large-scale paintings on now at White Cube in London.
Nice set of images from the last few years here.
Matt & Kim Photos
New Photos from the Jan 28th, Matt & Kim show at the Biltmore are up.
The show was pretty damn spectacular. Their odb and other hip hop covers were a charm. it was Matt’s 27th birthday and the crowd sang him happy birthday at the end. There album, “Grand” just came out this month and is really frickin’ good.
Expect big things in 2k9 from this adorable little duo.

I miss the suburbs for the records.
I knew nothing about this group when I found the record several years ago at some Value Village in the suburbs. I looked at the cover and immediately thought, “Whoa. It’s like a bohemian Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. And High INERGY? Is that a typo? This MUST be sweet.” It cost me $1.
It turns out I’d end up finding a track that I would fully rinse the following year.
Then I forgot all about it until today when I was checking out some Debarge YouTube vid. It’s a tightly composed 80s disco funk track complete with farting synthy sounds.
High Inergy – He’s A Pretender
Check out the extra kicks at around 3:10!
Heads up: This is someone else’s slightly dodgy rip (there are some minor pops/clicks and the pitch flutters a bit). If you’re into a proper vinyl rip, let me know and I can get my ass in gear to finally do it… or if you’ve got a cleaner copy, please hit us back. Sharing is caring.
rock the party..

yeah this is my jam.. . trust you me, i can get pretty carried away when i hear it, but not that carried away.
Radiozero;

I’m very excited that Winnie is going to be syndicating the Radiozero podcast. Every few weeks we will have a new one for you…!
For those of you unfamiliar, the show airs on CITR (UBC’s College radio) 101.9FM on Fridays between 2-3:30.
It’s put together by, Tyler Fedchuk of 1/2 Alive & The Ice Cream Social and Mike Barrow of the Vancouver magazine / events site Chalked Up. It has been going strong for few years now as they run a tight ship and do a great job of keeping you up to date with the best new music and old gems.
