Jockin Jay-Z (Travis Barker Remix)
Here’s my short theory on how to decide “Who’s the greatest rapper?” Rapping started as bragging over the breaks DJs cut at neighbourhood block parties. Rapping (aka talking) was all about how you were the best with the ladies, the flyest dresser, the smartest dude, whatever. Just prove you’re the best. So to decide “Who’s the best alive?” it really does matter what you’re doing in real life. Setting some of the most enduring trends in hip-hop (Platinum jewelry, Cristal champagne), becoming CEO of a Fortune 500 company and making hundreds of millions of dollars in endorsement and package deals, and marrying one of the greatest singers of the 21st century pretty much means you’re at the top of the heap. Not to mention consistently making some of the greatest records over the past 10 years. Happy birthday Jay-Z. You’ve been the best since Biggie died.

The title of “Greatest Rapper” should be purely based on rapping. I don’t necessarily think that being a great business man means you’re a great rapper… and vice versa.
Wouldn’t you agree that some of the best actors in the world aren’t necessarily the richest or heading up huge corporations?
Either way, I think we should be careful when we attribute certain alleged measures of success with other completely unrelated skills or abilities.
Word up. To prove your point: the man Jay-z copied his whole business swagger from is Puffy. And “No Way Out” or “Press Play” ain’t making anybody’s Top 1000 list.
The worlds greatest hockey player is Trevor cos he is a legend.
Well it is stated, based on bragging, which I would agree Jay-z takes the cake. I personally would like him more if he repped himself less.
I personally would take spank rocks “yoyoyoyo” over everything he’s put out combined. Id rather hear about big booties than being vip, cash n cars
it goes Ghostface, Nas and Jay-Z for me.. the order rotates.. nice post.
