Art Basel Miami Beach

December rules because my birthday, Christmas and the biggest international art fair of the year all happen during it.  Art Basel Miami Beach hosts over 250 galleries from across the world and exhibits art by over 2,000 artists.  And that’s just the beginning: dozens of other events are held around Miami during the week, so you don’t have to pay the $35 entry fee to the big fair, just go to all the hotels in the area, where local galleries rent out entire floors and set up shop in each room, or the Wynwood district, where the hot young artists show, like our friends at O.H.W.O.W.

the interview show: tommie sunshine

Standing in the alley behind Celebrities nightclub, Tommie Sunshine waits patiently for the car to whisk him back to the hotel and his incredibly hot girlfriend. (Yes, the woman on the cover of his latest release, Ultra.Rock Remixed presented by Tommie Sunshine, is really his girlfriend.)

Tommie Sunshine: “I’m a way bigger fan of Mr. Oizo. I’ll say one thing about SebastiAn: I love his record, but if you ever wanna get every single girl off the dance floor, play a SebastiAn record. That is like Pussy Raid.” [Sunshine hisses like an aerosol spray.] “Every girl runs from SebastiAn records. It’s amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.”
