the interview show midnight juggernauts
The Midnight Juggernauts and myself stood out back of Richard’s On Richards while mosquitoes and flies flittered between us and RonR’s dumpsters. As they swatted at bugs, they probably regretted delaying their dinner to do this interview!
The Juggernauts are coming out of a great scene in Australia. A scene that has unleashed many other awesome bands on the world, like Avalanches, the Presets and Cut Copy.
Midnight Juggernauts are a band hampered by the well-meaning “dance rock” label. The band themselves have a problematic relationship with this category.
Vincent Vendetta (left) from the band sums it up… “[Dance Rock] might give the impression that [our music] it’s all for the dance floor—you have to dance to it. We have our foot in the indie dance scene—and I am fine with that. But, a lot of our music is for lounging by the pool and for a long Sunday drive—different emotions, different feelings, different moods—rather than just dancing. We like exploring cinematic ambient stuff, psychedelic progrock tangents, and rollerskating jams, etc. etc.—as long as we don’t’ have any borders to creative exploration…”
