Maddecent has quietly released the Diplo & Benzi, Paper Route Records, “Fear and Loathing in Huntsvegas” album as a pay what you want.

For the recession friendly price of $5 or more you get all the tracks at 320 kbs and 4 bonus tracks not included with the 192kbs $0-4.99 version.

I find this a lot more interesting than Kanye’s new album which surprised everyone with its minimalism and heavy use of vocoder!?.

Kanye’s a great rapper and all but he’s been doing the Madonna as of late jumping onto whatever’s hot. All of the rappers that have been spitting a few verses over the latest hyped up track should take note too, this is sampling without bootlegging. First two tracks from the album below.

get it hrrr.

Jackie Chain ft Jhi Ali – Rollin (Diplo Remix)

Blaqstarr ft Jhi Ali – Stuntastic (prod by Diplo)

    sweet. cheers hunky.
love that female voice sample in the back of ‘rollin’. the question is, where is it from?

plus, is it just me or did they miss a golden opportunity about 2 thirds into ‘stuntastic’ to take it to another level? (by bumping up and thickening the drums a bit). maybe its just that I know the original to well.. kept waiting for a heavier drum to kick in.

Its originally from the Jane & barton track, “it’s a fine day” but it was also used in the ATB ish trance version of the song by Miss Jane I think it is? the original is pretty rad.

That sample is the main bit they used in Orbital’s “Halcyon” just slowed down. I forget what band they sampled (its on the song’s Wikipedia entry) but the girl who originally sang it is the girl in the video. Also, there is the more well known extended version “Halcyon & On & On” – it pops up in Diplo mix sets every once in a while.
