Banksy
Banksy hasn’t been selling very well at auction recently but he’s bigger than ever and it’s cool to see the money he’s made is going right back into the art. His newest work is a storefront installation in a retail block of the West Village in NYC. “Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill” is a neat freak show highlighting humans’ treatment of animals — how we sanctify some and cook others. Highlights among the robotic animals are McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets dipping themselves in sauce; a monkey watching TV; hot dogs squirming in their buns and a chemotherapy-paled Tweety Bird sitting sadly in his bird cage.
