Say Cheese Sing Cheese

The Dutch aka The Cheeseheads or like whatever.. do not make me angry by calling me that!
No it’s fine actually. Had an interesting conversation with a Frenchman or well it was a monologue that my cheese was better than his cheese - it felt like playing risky poker.
I also wouldn’t say that our music is better than the French.
They have a bigger country.
But… why not give you lovely people some of our Dutch Delight?
This is/was a hit here and that doesn’t happen quite often with a Techno/Minimal song…
the title means ‘Little Bunny’
Their official video sucks but the unofficial one is great.. bunnies bunnies..
Piet Parra and P. Faberge are Lele and they categorize their music as French Pop / Ghettotech / German Pop.
Parra is ‘the illustrator’ in Holland..

and he also made the video:
Ok now go buy yourself a ticket and I will see you ‘down’ here.

ps. cheese is gold
class..
pretty psyched about tonight’s Pop Opera opening- Ayres/Dana/Ali B are pretty dope plus a bunch of the Winnie crew’ll be there, which is nice. and its even got bottle service, which is a pretty big step in the right direction for Vancouver… . now if Pop Opera had “box service” (see below), that would take it to the limit..
The Chromatics: Disco does a phoenix
Disco is making a big comeback. Labels like DFA and bands like Hercules & Love Affair seem to be getting all the hipster love for reviving the genre. Another label hard at work at bringing back italo-disco–with a distinctly modern favour–is Italians Do It Better. Two bands on the IDIB roster that deserve special attention are Glass Candy and The Chromatics.
I think a Pitchfork critic got it right (yeah, yeah… sometimes they do get it right) when he said that Italians Do It Better “lovingly re-imagines the style as retro-futurist noir– a sleek soundtrack to lives of moral ambiguity in post-urban shadows.”
Both bands are making really exciting music right now. Definitely get into them now before everyone else does. The Chromatics album “Night Drive” was on a lot of “2007 best of” lists and Glass Candy was one of 25 bands on NME’s “Bands Making America Cool Again” list.
Keep an eye on winniecooper.net for upcoming interviews with Glass Candy (on August 25th) and The Chromatics (September). We always give you the good shit.
