the interview show: Yoav
Yoav is a singer-songwriter in the vein of Jose Gonzalez. Living all over the world—NYC, London, Cape Town and Israel—has informed his music. Despite this, Yoav tells us he found his unique sound while on a mushroom trip in New York’s Central Park. It’s difficult for a singer-songwriter with just an acoustic guitar to sound unique, however, on his first record, Yoav manages to stand apart.
Songs played on the show…
1) Yoav “Beautiful Lie”
2) Yoav “There Is Nobody”
3) Yoav “Club Thing”
4) Tori Amos “Precious Things” (snippet)
5) Yoav “Adore Adore”
Hey, Scott Wood here. Happy holiday weekend, folks!
Yoav is the perfect music for that chill summertime BBQ dinner party. It’s getting dark. The garden/patio lanterns are starting to glow. The second bottle of Merlot is uncorked. You want to put on something that no one has heard about–yet. Something a little less tired than Jack Johnson. And James Blunt is out of the question.
Pop-Styles 2

I was on Ministry of Sound a couple weeks ago looking for some hetero-electronica cheese videos (girls working out, girls playing soccer, girls working out, girls playing sax, girls working out, nurse-girls cloning guys and testing them to make sure they’re heterosexual). I wanted to see if there were any new ones that topped the pinnacle of the genre, Benny Benassi’s Satisfaction. Didn’t find anything, however I was pleasantly surprised by this amazing peice of work (DIY net culture electro steez?). Awesome song too.
If you live in the UK you can buy this single on iTunes UK.

Pop-Styles

Here are a couple popular blog-style electro-indy hits. Not sure how well these embody the DIY internet culture that spawned their style, but who cares: they’re catchy and they’re popular.
